JD 2210 or 4000 series?

I Fully agree with the evaluation of the two units. I have a 4010 and it performs well for me. I test drove the 2210 when I got the 4010. The 2210 also performed well. I opted for the 4010 for these reasons;

larger tires
standard Cat. 1 hitch
larger heavier frame
folding ROPS
60" 7-Iron deck

Even if it's from homemade sheetmetal, should have something for those tractors with such low clearance to protect the vulnerables.

Seems like Deere could have done something to protect the under belly.

The 4010 doesn't take a 7-Iron deck. It's green, but it's not a 7-iron.

I also test drove both the 2210 and 4010. The 2210 would not stop and restart backwards up a little slope. The 4010 had no trouble with that stop and restart. Think it wasn't in 4wd, but I nor the sales person could get it in.

I've read here that the 2210 has the hydraulic oil cooler fan fairly exposed underneath.

Glad I bought the 4010 in going over some rough terrain on my hilly property.

The 2210 is also missing the turning brakes and cruise control. The 4010 is missing the drink holder that the 2210 has, but for my purposes that dinky drink holder on the 2210 isn't big enough. I strap a big gallon thermos to the upright on my FEL on the 4010.

Geeesh RalphVA , your animosity towards the 2210 is now legendary, why I dont know but maybe a professional can find out why /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Certainly the 2210 you test drove was not setup correctly, and the salesperson didnt have the knowledge to present it correctly....

The 2210 is an excellent machine, and from what I'm reading is a better performer than the new models (Hydrolics). So demand for them will increase, I would guess...

There is so much excellent feedback on the Yanmar based machines (2210 -4115), you cant go wrong with any other these models...probably the best on the market

Why? A gallon of what? I'd have to get off my tractor to relieve myself every 30 minutes if I drank a gallon of anything while operating it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif .... I wonder if the 2210 could handle a gallon thermos strapped to its loader support /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My 2210 was awesome. My 4110 is awesome. I assume the one in between is pretty awesome, too. Don't think I would like to have to take my rear wheel off to change my hydro filter, though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ralph, if anything, the 2210 with greater gross and pto hp will pull stronger -- did you have the hi/lo range in neutral? -- or are we left to guess what's in that gallon jug?

All tractors in the Deere line are there for a reason, and I'm glad you enjoy yours, but I'll be willing to bet there is no 14 pto hp tractor in the new lineup. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I too considered a JD 2210 or 4110 , both the same in size as far as I can see but found out that the 2210 athough 23hp vs 20 hp on the 4110 is not rated for a backhoe. I am unsure about the 4110 being able to handle a hoe, it must have to do with the tourque. Also my brother let me barrow his 2110 for a wk. I moved 65-70 ton of dirt and mowed 3.5 acres with it some hill and loved the way it peformed.also I tested its traction by stopping half way down the hill and backing up , it slipped little if any and that was not even in 4wd.

Well there is good news and better news to your question - the 4110 -4115 do use a bachhoe and its from Deere (46BH)
The 2210 also can handle a backhoe but its an after market from Woods - thats actually a very good thing because its less expensive, better curve in the arm, it might have a slight improvement in hydrolics, and its a frame mount unit (means its strong)...I have a 4100 (same as a 4110 basically) and I'm leaning more towards the woods than the deere backhoe....And it does not void your warranty for the Tractor if you still had a warranty
