JD 216 lawn tractor will not start

I have just got the tractor and was mowing the yard when all of a sudden the tractor just shut off. It wasn't out of gas, it was just as if somebody turned off a switch or something.

Battery is fully charged, yesterday I jump the solenoid and the starter kick on.

Could the ignition switch have failed? How do you check the 5 prong switch ?

Sounds like a safety cut off switch might have been shook loose or went bad. Check under the seat, behind the break, and behind the pto engage lever.
