JD 2155...tell me about it.

Posted an ad wanting to trade my 1998 Dodge 2500 4x4 diesel for a tractor.
Guy responded this morning wanting to trade a JD 2155 with a 175 loader.
Not a lot of specifics as yet beyond he is the second owner and it is 2wd.
Sent some pics,looks clean and appears to be all there.

Asked about hours but not much else.

So,what do I need to know about this tractor?
What should I look out for?
If he does want to trade,I might try having a mechanic go along and take a look at it.

By all means... drag your mechanic buddy along! Don't know off-hand what either parts of the trade are worth - the truck or the tractor! That'd be a first place to start with me.

Check the usual - blow-by on the engine, clutch function and pedal freeplay, range shift and tranny shift and stay in gear, tie rod ends sloppy, tires - ok, loader arms straight and pins not too sloppy - no welds, hyd cylinders dry, pto works - shifts in and out - ok, .....
