As a broad generalization, they're one of the best, if not THE best baler of it's day. That doesn't speak to the condition of a specific used baler, but if it's still intact and in good working order, they're great balers. Should you buy it and need an owners manual, contact me. I still have one somewhere. (No, I didn't have a 214 myself. I went from New Holland 273 to Deere 336. My brother owned a 214. He wasn't exactly the most mechanically gifted person to walk this earth and I ended up working on it enough to warrant buying my own manual)

I agree.

As a kid, I worked a custom baling operation. We used 14, 24, 224, 336 (hope I got all the numbers right), both twine and wire. They worked flawlessly!

All required regular maintenance and repair, but once you had the knotters/wire wraps adjusted properly, we could bale all day and generally, the only time we lost a bale was when the twine or wire would change balls and get hung up.

The owner had at least 2, sometimes 3, running all the time. We'd put a lifetime of bales through one every season. He'd run them 2-3 yrs, then trade for a newer one.
