I posted this on the JD site, had a lot of lookers but no posters so I thought I would give Parts and Repairs a shot.
I own a 1965 JD 2010 Row Crop that has had a couple issues with the rear hub and hub cap that holds the wheel to the axle. The first time the wheel actually fell off the tractor because the key that locks the axle shaft to the wheel came out due to loose hub cap bolts that I didn't find when inspecting the tractor.
Today I was moving some dirt with my FEL when I heard a bang. I looked the tractor over quickly and couldn't find any problem but decided to quit working until I found the source of the noise. I found two of the four bolts missing that hold the hub cap, the key and the hub to the axle. The bolts were there when I last inspected the tractor. When I had the first problem I torqued the four bolts according to the service manuals specs. Any idea what could be causing my problem?
