JD 13' disc for my MX5100

Got my new-to-me disc. Overall not too bad. The bearings need replaced in one rear gang thats locked up. But the MX pulled it with no issues at all, both up and down hill in the corn field, then through the freshly plowed garden. With the one rear gang locked up, not sure if that makes it pull harder? or easier as it just loads up and dont cut in? But was happy with how it pulled testing it out, so went ahead and bought it for $500.

There was also a nice rock, that I talked him into included with the purchase.....all I got to do is see if the backhoe has the balls to get it home.

You'll get a LOT of use out of this disc. Heavy design. Very unique disc!!!! I've never saw one with the gangs offset like that. Any idea the purpose?

Also appears the hitch is a simple two point hinged hitch?? So the disc is unaffected by tractor elevation??

As for your rock. Here's my unusual rock. Excuse the snow cover. I had to drive my Kubota down a fairly good sized creek almost a mile, twice, to carry this one to our campground. It's sitting on a slab rock that I got from the same location. I love rocks.

sounds you got a good deal! that setup is a little bit different than the JD disc I was pulling. Are you able to get the bearings from shoup or JD?

Good point, I meant to mention bearings. Take it apart and go to your local auto parts store for the bearings. I got mine from O'Reilly's. Much cheaper than JD.

JD used that design on several models, one thing it does is allows for a complete overlap between the front gangs as not to leave the small strip of untilled ground in the center. Some models and brands used a cultivator shank with a sweep mounted in the center of the disc behind the front gangs to cut the strip out.

I had saw the cultivator shank solution, just hadn't saw the offset gangs. Makes the disc a bit "long" but should work great.

Love rocks too. I border everything with them. Anything from softball sized to 7000# monsters. Not sure on the hitch or the offset gangs. Reading I was doing mentioned this is a double-offset design.

Yea, bearings are still available ~$40
