Hi Everyone,

When I replaced a failed alternator on my JD1140 I noticed that the pulley doesn't align with the pulleys of the fan and crankshaft. I would say it is about 3/8th of an inch out. The lack of alignment can't be too serious as the tractor has been running that way for years and years, but I'm curious to know whether the mounting bracket can be adjusted fore and aft. I should have looked when I had the alternator off!

Best wishes

Denis

If possible..... move the alt pulley...dose the belt fit in the new alt pulley ? Mybe you will have to widen the pulley ?

I don't know about the bracket, but the tabs on the alt could possibly be ground down behind with a grinder for a better fit, adding a washer in the front, this should bring it "back" a bit.

are you saying the old one did not match or the new one did not match also what year and motor does your tractor have alternator are for exact fit does not need any adjustments in or out unless brackets are wrong also do you a number of the alternator you purchased
