Hi everybody,

I have visited this forum off and on for years, but never posted, just read and learned. I have searched the forum for any post on this subject but found none. I have a Kubota B21 and recently bought a 2006 JD 110TLB, awesome very powerful tractor. My issue on the JD 110 TLB is I cannot get the front bucket to float. On my Kubota you just push it past the down direction until it snaps into the detent and it floats. I have tried this; I also adjusted the linkage and went as far as disconnecting the linkage and trying to manually push the piston on the spool valve in to see if I could get it to snap in, no luck. Is the float an option? Or is it standard on all JD 110TLB's? I am lost at this point. Thanks for any and all help on this issue.

Welcome 11,
It is standard on the 110TLB, making sure all the linkages are well lubricated is the first place to start, and checking for worn parts on the joystick assembly.

Hi Kenny,

I did have to tighten the 2 screw that hold the joystick assembly to the mounting bracket, the ones where you have the 2 access holes in the plastic cover. They were loose. I went as far as pulling the linkage off and trying to push the piston in on the spool valve, I was trying to see if it would snap into the float position at the valve, I assume it will do this manually without the tractor running, no luck there. When I had the linkage off, I checked the travel and it has plenty of travel, it appears that the valve is not working correctly, I suppose. I will check all the linkages under the boot this weekend and see what that looks like. Thanks for the reply.

It may well be that the spool valve is sticking. However, the detent on my 110 is probably the hardest to physically snap into detent than any tractor I've ever operated!! IIRC - I posed the same question to TBN folk's 5 years ago when I first started using my NEW 110.

As a matter of fact; the hard-molded plastic joystick housing that is screwed to the inside of the fender has cracked at the screw holes on my 110. Gotta be a result of that hard snap into detent at the end of the joystick travel!

The one treatment that seems to work on the valve body linkages is cleaning routinely and spraying with liquid graphite powder. Those swivel-balls need all the help you can give 'em!

Hi AKfish,

That might be it, maybe I am not pushing it hard enough. I am used to my other tractor, I guess. I have some Graphite, I will put some on the linkages and go from there. I will see what I can do tonight. Thanks for the input!!

F.Y.I. The probelm was that the Push Rod on the linkage was previous broken at the threads, this only left about 4 threads, enough to get the end back on. The problem is this shorten the stroke and would not go far enough forward to catch the detent for the float mode. I guess someone did not want to spend the money to replace the rod, and evidently they did not use the float function. I machined an extention and drilled a cross hole for a split pin in my machine shop, installed it, and it works perfectly now. This will get me by until the correct part gets in. It does go into float hard, as AKfish noted. Thanks! Tom

Good to hear that you got it figured out! Too bad that the previous owner wouldn't cough up the few bucks to fix a relatively small problem and left it up to you to deal with...
