Jd 110 or M59TLB? Need more specifics.

Why not Jd110 or Cat 420?

It depends on your needs and $$$$.

I can't speak on the Kubota half but the Deere... Has more better dealer network. Less maintance cost per hour. The 110 itself is a little outdated but still very capable work machine.

I've got a new 110 with about 25hrs, now. I priced the 59 and have used the 39 (rented for a weekend).

The 39 and 110 may be close on paper but the 39 ain't the machine that the 110 is -- IMO.

I think a more accurate comparison would be between the discontinued L48 and the 110.

For my purposes, the margin in capabilities between the 110 and the 59 did not pencil out. It doesn't matter a great deal to me if the FEL lifts 500lbs more or the hoe digs 2 feet deeper. Maybe for commercial uses, that margin would make dollars and sense but for my little farm, no.

The $7-8K difference in money mattered. (I wanted a thumb and top n tilt and extra lights, horn, etc.)

I've got a very capable local Deere dealer with a very experienced shop crew. The local Kubota guys don't do major repairs in-house and do not have an extensive shop facility. They rent and send the broke stuff to Anchorage.

That all entered into the equation of whether to buy an Orange machine or a Green (well... yellow) one.

The bigger question for you should be -- what are your needs right now and likely needs in the coming 5 years or so.

Do you really need a heavy-duty construction tractor?

Best of luck in your decision.

I purchased my 110Tlb couple months ago to replace my 4310 with 48 hoe. At the time the M-59 was not on the Kubota dealers lot yet. As AKfish said the extra depth or lift capacity would not change my purchase of a 110 tlb vs the M-59 for the increase cost. I transport my 110 TLb for site work and the larger M-59 would be a killer to move with small t-plate dump .

I can also say the 110 TLB footprint and turning radius seems better than my 4310 was with the 48 hoe and moves around in tight areas nicely . So far I have been very pleased with no regrets and would recommend the 110TLB to anyone.

I guess I am just trying to see if people are satisfied with thier 110 and if the price difference for the extra capacity is worth it.

It's difficult to make recommendations or offer advice when there's no information regarding how/where you plan to use your tractor. So, all I can do is relate how I came about making my decision.

My current use is to clear trees, stumps on about 9 acres of the 20 we have currently. Then I need to disc, roto-till, level, pack and plant those acres to pasture-hay. Somewhere in those acres, I'm gonna consider a small parcel of U-pick 'em crops. So, a 3pt hitch is essential and the top n tilt is a very helpful feature as well.

I moved up from a 33hp, gear transmission, TLB tractor (JD 970) that had about 13 gpm hydraulic function @ 2,200 psi. The JD 110 is over 26 gpm hydraulic output @ 3,000 psi.

I looked at the Green line of CUT's extensively in my decision -- as well as the comparable Hp range of Orange tractors in 40-60hp.

None of the Ag type machines had FEL's or backhoes that were built as rugged as the 110 and they didn't measure up in the hydraulic capability, either. (No real surprise.)

On a comparable Hp machine with similar options - TLB; the difference in price for a 110 and Ag type CUT was around $3K. (Your results may vary....)

Having a machine that would better stand up to the punishment of clearing land over time -- the additional $3K was a small difference to pay.

That said, I wish the 110 had cruise control. I've had the opportunity to use a JD4320 with cruise and it's a great feature!

And I don't like the float on the FEL. It's too hard to push the lever before it clicks and with all that loader-bucket mass and power -- you can make a mess of things real fast!

However, thus far, I'm satisfied that I made a good decision.

I didn't have a lot of seat time on the L39 but I think that the differences in transmission and ergonomics and overall dimensions in the two TLB's (the L39 is low to the ground and kinda "squat"..) -- the 110 is the better machine.

As MACDABS pointed out, trailering the M59 would be a handful!! I plan to weigh my 110 at the area landfill to find out just how much heavier it is than the advertised weight of 7,600lbs.

I trailered the 110 from Olympia, WA to Alaska -- a bit more than 2,700 miles with a 20' tilt-bed 14K trailer and a Chevy 2500HD DuraMax and Allison tranny.

The truck weighs a shade over 7,000lbs. I stopped in at the landfill on my way home and the truck-tractor combo weighed in at 20,760lbs. Granted, I had a set of forks (Work-Pro 48"), the HD 72" bucket with cutting edge and a monster, root grapple (66") that weighs around 800lbs and the hoe with a 20" HD bucket and thumb plus all the top n tilt, drawbar, etc.

Long and short --- I'd hate to eat all those pounds that the 110 TLB is above 7,600...

And the M59 is substantially, a bigger machine than the 110; well, I would be happy to take odds against the advertised 8,000 lbs!

MACDABS -- pics comin' soon. Hooked up the top n tilt to blade the muddy mess that my road is right now.

Snowin' pretty good today... Put 2 bee hives out a few days ago --- (they're not flyin' around today!!)

Geese are back and honkin' to and fro' lookin' for a lake to open up. They're all frozen yet but the river's are open.

Good machine --- that JD110. No regrets there.

AK Fish Snowing "pretty good" ?? - we got just under two feet and now its blowing around. I unchained my Kubota when I sold it (though it's sitting on my place still) and I don't have chains for the 2520 yet! It's going to be along day.
