JD 110 for 3pt work?

My rear blade weighs a tad too much to yard around by hand. What I do (your mileage may vary, closed sand-box):
I get as close as I can. Dump the bucket so the bottom is vertical and lower it just enough to take some weight off the front. (did i mention my equipment yard is level so nothing rolls on it's own) In neutral, brake off. This allows me to make minor back-forth movements with the dump control from the ground. There isn't enough movement to allow it to roll over me. The motion is much more controlled than trying to nudge it using the drive train.

Well, that's definitely an easy way to get that last little half inch!! :D

I'm guessing my Gannon weighs around 1,000 lbs, it's a well made heavy duty piece of equipment. I'm not able to use dollys to store it on as the ground is too soft but I like the idea of using the front bucket to get that 1/2" of movement, I'll give that a try.

I love my 110 but I'm not a big fan of box blades, most likely it's just my lack of skill using it. I have a very difficult time trying to raise and lower the 3 point the lever seems to have a delay and a lack of sensitivity, does anyone know if there is an adjustment to make it more user friendly? For example if I'm dragging my road and want to raise the box to release the material slowly there is a delay and I end up with a pile on the road, then I usually end up using the front bucket to smooth it out.

Great site thanks.

I used to use the 110 with a 6' Harley rake and a 5' brush hog. After using it with the Harley rake a couple of times I immediately went out and got some wheel weights for it, I didn't want to deal with filling the tires, but without the hoe hangin' off the back it would get quite exciting if you were on a slight side hill or if you were loading a truck . I would say that I would switch between the hoe and the rake a couple times a week and removing the hoe was a simple and fast procedure as long as you were on relatively flat ground. As far as the loader, like someone else said, it will do 2k with the hoe on and I did lift some 2500lb pallets off the ground but didn't go much higher than 3'. I also had a 4n1 bucket as well as the "standard" 72" bucket and for what I do, the 4n1 was perfect, picking up the last little bit of material or picking up piles of tailings from raking and moving an occasional log or two, but as far as a primary "grapple" bucket I think it would get bowed or twisted too easily.

Well Friday I removed the hoe from the 110 for the first time and even with the Laurin cab section mounted it was easy using AK's method. Thanks alot.

Top and tiltkit and 1284 boxblade
Afterwards I found all the pieces and mounted the top and tilt kit, I set it up so that forward and backwards on the joystick rolled the unit front to back on the top link, I used the left to right (curl) to tilt it side to side and the third section A/B to operate the toothbar. Seems to work well but I need a bit of practice :D to say the least.

Hooking up to the heavy ***** box blade was easier than I thought. I first pinned in one side, then the top cylinder, then I used the top cylinder to push and pull the box blade into position to pin the remaining lift arm. This approach gave me the minute adjustments needed to pin in the last arm.
