I know there are several posts on here about this comparison. I thought I had made my decision on the 1025R however over the weekend I obtained a price quote for the Kubota BX25D that caused me pause. The BX25D with the 60" deck, the 3pt hitch and the thumb for the BH came in at out the door at $19350. My quote for the JD with the same equipment is $3,000 more.

I really like both tractors and the dealers have been equally helpful. They are within 5 miles of my house.

Really the only negative I have toward the BX25D is the lack of position control on the 3ph.

Ant feedback on these units would be helpful and particularly on the 3ph select control on the BX25D and any actual experience using.

thanks in advance.

I also looked at the Deere and liked it a lot but the BX was a lot better "deal" at the the time and I have been very pleased with it. I like Kubota (have 2) but Deere is just as good but in our neck of the woods the green paint seems expensive. As for the 3pt - can't say I ever gave it a thought - once you get used to working the machine everything becomes second nature. I would buy my BX again without any thought as it does everything I wanted well and I have had no issues with it.
Good luck with your decision

$3K is a lot for position control! Unless you know you really need it, I'd have a hard time with that price jump. What plans do you have for the 3-pt hitch?

Another option is to price out the Kubota B2301 or B2601, which has position control, and see how that compares. I know back when I was looking at these tractors in 2011, I could get a larger B model for the same price as the smaller Deere, and that's what I ended up doing at the time. The jump in capability with a B is substantial.

I recommend that you shop other John Deere dealers. I just bought a 1025R with the H120 Loader and found that price varied quite a bit between dealers. Depends on how bad the JD dealer wants your business and how much they are trying to make off of each sale. The JD and Kubota dealers were next each other in Oklahoma City. The JD dealer gave me a better price. However I stopped at another JD dealer 50 miles away and he beat the lowest JD price by 2500.00. I also got online and requested quotes from all the dealers within 75 miles. I got a great deal and have been very impressed with the tractor. Plus the Dealer had no problem delivering the machine.

I paid just under 16000 for the JD 1025R with detachable H120 loader and 60" deck

The 1025R has a very rough and high speed idling engine. Mine turned into a lemon. I traded it within 2 years for a 2025R.

You do not want a BX if you do any work in brush. Eventually, the brush will take out that underneath cooling fan.

My jd1025R purrs like a kitten. My neighbor uses his 1025 for work and has 500 hours on it in 2 years. It still runs like a new one. I guess like everything else there are lemons with any brand. I have another neighbor whose Kubota has had hydraulic issues, drive train issues and complains about the power when using the loader. He also owns a second Kubota that works perfectly. I think both are offering a good warranty now though.

I was really impressed with the power of my JD1025R. Since I was lucky to have neighbors who had one of each I drove both and tried them out. They are both good machines, I was just more comfortable on the JD. When I found the second dealer who chopped the price way down and gave me a really good trade in on my old blue Ford 1015 that was all I needed. The delivered the new JD and I watched old blue disappear into the sunset.

I keep reading this over and over. And I keep posting over and over that $150 and a phone call to BXpanded for their Under Armor solves that problem completely. And it takes about 5 minutes to install, or maybe 10 minutes if you are mechanically inept.
