JCB 530B
I have a JCB 530B telehandler. Have been jump starting it with my pickup. put a meter on the battery and the alternator is not charging. Put a new alternator on and still not charging.
looking at wire diagrams on line it looks like there is a excite wire that goes to a battery light in the dash. I don't know that any of the light on the dash have ever worked. I pulled every bulb and tested each one they are all good. Has any one ever wired in a separate light or tried to bypass the light to get the alternator to charge?

If its a "One wire" system this is typically a VW lament when converting from generator to alternator.... But its typical of how many alternators work...

BUT you can also create a condition called "run on" its when alternator is in charge mode and can supply enough voltage through lamp to keep electrical system energizes when you turn key off...

It is typical on many varied systems, mainly you have to identify connection on alternator that would be same as D+ in images...

Having wiring diagram for your telehandler would really help.... The no power to dash lights may be as simple as a blown fuse....

Start with a schematic diagram of your Telehandler. It may have a wiring issue or it may have a defective external voltage regulator. There are many possibilities for your problem. If the alternator is new it is probably capable of charging your battery. What's its output voltage when running?

By the documentation supplied above....

I would be highly suspicious of Fuse #5 in fuse block... It seems to supply "12 volts" to just about all lamps in dash (you did state all the lamps were not working) .... And yes lamp #55 is your Alternator lamp...I would start trouble shooting for voltage on supply side of fuse coming from terminal #2 on ignition switch and work through fuse towards lamps... Could be simply a bad connection at fuse block or where wire harness connects up to dash...

Out of curiosity does warning buzzer (#8) work?

The theory behind alternator indicator lamp is when key on but engine not spinning up the alternators internal regulator puts out a ground to light lamp, as engine starts and alternator spins up the ground on ALT lamp lead transition to "12 volts"... Since there is 12 volts standing on one side of lamp and now the ground the cause to lamp to light is removed and transitions to 12 volt there in no longer a current flow to light the lamp, as lamp goes out it indicates alternator is functioning...

Something like probe below can be your new best friend for trouble shooting.... Put clip lead on good ground and touch probe to where you expect to find 12 volts, lamp lights yes there is 12 volts there....

You've got schematics. That's good. It appears the voltage regulator is inside the alternator. What happens if you charge the battery from a charger then try starting the unit? What is the voltage output of the alternator once you get the engine running? If you have not done so, clean battery terminals and cable connectors. Replace on battery and tighten securely. If you can move them they're not tight. Follow ground lead to frame. Clean and tighten.

UPDATE: Fond that all fuses were good, had power to the dash so something in the dash must be bad. Today I wired my own alternator waring light in. Traced the excite wire from the alternator to under the dahs, found it was unplugged and had a diode already wired in. I ran a wire from the ignition switch to the light and the alternator wire with diode to the light and bingo I have 13.4 to 14 volts at the battery.
Thanks for all the input.

Thanks for the update. (y)
I have a JCB 530B telehandler.
Need some pictures please.
What do you use it for? Does it have SSQA?
Have you seen my compact telehandler thread? Compact telehandler

It is a Bobcat V417:
