JB Weld, Steel Stick Or Similar to Seal Very Minor Propane Leak?

Turn it off take it apart tape it and dope it. These guys are making a huge project out of this. I have done industrial hvac for 25 years I would send a first year kid to fix that leak in a heartbeat unless it’s a thousand foot line your going to lose at most a few bucks of gas

Fixing it right isn’t that hard. Fix it right and don’t worry about it. Purging the line after isn’t that hard.

Who supplies the high pressure line? A company or is it from your own tank? (you don't list a location so not sure how this works in your world).

I own everything, including the tank. 'High Pressure' is whatever comes off the first stage regulator at the tank, not sure what that is, but not a lot.

I installed all of this a year or so back and it wasn't leaking then. Probably some settling or temperature fluctuations worked it loose just a hair. You almost can't even see the bubbles at first, just a slight fizz after a few minutes.

I've though about just two wrenches to tweak it a bit, but not sure if that will break the union free ... which would not be that big an issue to crank it back down.

To me, a close up of the union looks boogered anyway where arrow points to. Thread sealant mentioned is a good idea.
Since the right-hand nipple threads don't look good in picture I'd replace both & union.
If it's past regulator I'm thinking it's low pressure...but I'm just a diy'er hack!

I've gumped a lot of things together in my life. Propane/natural gas are things I would never take a chance with. (Auto brakes are another.) There's something about getting blown up which has never appealed to me. If you can't afford to have it fixed right have it pulled and find another source of heat or cooking. We don't need to find out where you live by reading it in your obituary.

The OP's question is why they don't let hacks like me work on propane.

As a master gas fitter of 40 yrs. I would take it apart and make the proper repairs with a thread lube listed for propane / nat gas. I have never used tape. Just never personally liked the stuff.

You say it's the high pressure side ? It could be 5 psi on that line. That's what the propane companies use around here. It then reduces down to 11 '' W.C. before entering the home.

It's your's and this is just my professional opinion . You are welcome to repair as you wish.

It doesn't help if there is excessive wear, rust and corrosion. There might also be a problem with stretched or broken chinch string.

Well...it's like everything nowadays...two divided groups. 1) pay the gas company $1K to fix it or 2) do yourself for $15 in 15 minutes.
