No, won't get the 1660. Need HST, and in the 16xx series, HST stopped with the 1652. Same engine as the 1655/1660 tho, so I may bump up the fuel pump to get the 59 HP that the 1660 has, we'll see. Next tractor will probably either be a CTL, or a larger "industrial" tractor with gear/shuttle shift. This 1652 should serve me for a long time as my "go to" machine.

I looked at tractordata quickly to compare the models but did not check the transmissions out. I have always liked MF but don't have a dealer any where close to me.

When I was shopping for my tractor I did get a chance to compare a box blade with both a 4520 and a 4320, big difference in pulling speed with a loaded box. I would have tried a 4720 but the dealer did not have one in stock.

I like the 4520/4720... It may have been you, or another member (can't remember) who helped point out the 400cx loader specs compared to the 400x... And that definitely helps make the the JD 4520/4720 look appealing to me. I just can't get over the cab though... It's just too small for me.... And a couple other minor things that I prefer on the MF. But nice machines.

I've got some stumps to grind soon ... That should help shed light on whether or not I notice the added power.

I thought the 1660 was available in either an HST or the dyna six speed push button transmission, no?

No, it has 3 options. Gear, Gear-Shuttle, or Dyna-QPS 12x12.. No HST tho :-(

The new series, you can get the 1758 HST

Old thread here... But GP, this Massey is holding up just as well as the other one did, flawless so far. I think I'm up somewhere around 700 hrs now, but not completely sure.
