115 degree heat index in eastern VA today. Swimming pools are even too warm to dive into! Like swimming in a hot bath.

Had four days in a row that topped 90*, (highest was 94*) July 4th -8th. Since then our highs have been around the mid-80's. This week the highs are to be upper 70's to low 80's. Low of 51* forecast for Monday night - I am looking forward that. We may not see 90* again this year.

It's been several years since we had a stretch of warm weather like this. My garden doesn't even know it's in Maine

It's 82* and a little humid at noon.
Dave.

There is the rub.

I was born up in Limestone.

I'll take this weather in the south in the summer not to have the snow you get in the winter:D

It's so hot the squirrels were seen icing down their nuts.

Missed this post. That's actually what I had in mind when I started this thread, seeing how many different "It's do hot" jokes we could come up with.

It's so hot right now that none of the local baptists are burning any books!

Heck, hot enough that my dogs are afraid to lick themselves.

I guess I prefer to put up with a longer winter, but by about late Feb. it can get tiresome :D By then it's almost spring and the daylight hours and sun intensity take the edge off. Somehow, a 2' snow in March isn't the same as 2' in January.

I've never lived anywhere that has a late summer/fall/early winter that compares to northern New England, that's my favorite time of year in Maine and it's almost here

here is an interesting perspective...

We left Myrtle beach today about noon-- 98 degrees.. hit Columbia SC 102 hit Spartanburg--104... got to the bottom of Saluda Grade--- 102 got to the top of Saluda grade-- slight bit o rain--- 78... (elevation change on Saluda grade is about 1000 feet from top to bottom... (1109 at Columbus NC, and 2079 at Saluda, NC)

In a few places we saw the truck temp readout bounce up to 110... now this is thermometer temp..
I am sure the heat index was at least 5 to 10 degrees hotter in most cases......

Does that mean you're back home?

:confused::confused2:

This time of year I head to the north pole to help Santa in his time trials.

He needs a really good RadarTech to coordinate with NORAD to ensure his stealth technology is working right....
SSSHHHHH it's a secret!

For some reason, I didn't think you were going to be home 'til Tuesday or Wednesday.

My area has broken a record of consecutive days with a high temp over 90 degrees. We had some really nice weather over July 4th then someone cranked up the temp.

This week we might get below 90 as a high.

We might have a low temperature that gets under 70. Most mornings the temps at dawn have been 80-82.

Our power bill was the highest we have ever seen by a good 15%.

I needed to work outside this past weekend. But I figured I would do some indoor chores instead. Heat Index as up near 114. The heat island cities were supposed to hit 103 Sunday. We did not get above 97/98 out in the country and we are a bit south of the cities so we should have been a bit hotter.

But a temp of 97 and humidity in the 50's and 60's was enough to keep me working in the house. :D

Later,
Dan

90 degrees here today. I spent 6 hours during the hotest part of the day running the hedgetrimmer cutting 4 foot grass and weeds.:confused2: I'll finish tomorrow.

What about your "automatic lawn mowers"?

FWIW, here's the heat index map at 6PM eastern today. Looks like the southeast, midwest and parts of Arizona are getting hammered.
