Those front tires look big in proportion to the rears. Does it get bound up if you try 4wd on a hard surface?

Notice the left one is backwards?

Interestingly it does seem like I have to back up to get out of 4x4 but they are the same size as spec'd for it....
Maybe the angle of the pic makes it look worse than it is....

I did run it a few hundred yards on the paved road in front of the house before I realized I was still in 4x4... didn't do anything odd other than being a little harder to steer

Out there looking at the Yanmar KE Series for some engine info when I found this . .

Both the John Deere and Yanmar logo are present!

And that reminded me of the real Deere 650 that's alongside a nearby lane - with no engine in it. It's been there for over 5 years.

That owner, a retired auto mechanic and classic car collector, came to look at my earlier YM186D (no loader) when he wanted his first tractor. Later he told me he had bought a real Deere to fix up and use instead, because he expected it was a better tractor.

The YM186D I sold is still working fine in the hands of the local guy I sold it to. That Deere 650 has never moved since I first saw it. I expect its engine is still on his workbench and is missing some unobtainable part.

Your machine is a true Deere made by Yanmar. The red one has a front grill with a Yanmar logo emblem between the eyes.

Yes, funny how the two machines look so closely the same.
