It\'s here!!

Well I got my bx 23 this past saturday. All I can say is what a great machine!!! I had my reservations on whether it could do what I needed, but it has plenty of power and then some. I got a rankin box blade with the purchase but have yet to put it on and try it out. I put 12 hours on the meter so far and am having a ball. I can honestly say that it would be half the tractor without the toothbar. I had my brother in-law try it out. He has a larger JD. He was impressed with the amount of ripping it could do. I have cleared about a 1/2 acre down to the dirt. It ripped weeds and all without bogging down. The backhoe will take some practice. I spent only a 1/2 hour or so running it, but it won't take long to get comfortable. Now this is coming from someone who has never run a tractor before, but thanks to all of the good information on this board, I couldn't be happier with the selection. I'm here for the first time and looking to buy a BX23 in the next couple of weeks. I read about your tooth bar on your FEL and was wondering did you order that from the factory or did you have to have them welded on?

As to the tooth bar ..... It bolts into the bucket with two bolts .
Your dealer can get it for you in short order . John

Cerberus, The pictures are now posted. As for the toothbar, Mine is made by a company called ATI. I ordered it with the tractor, and yes, Cerberus is right. It has two bolts through the sides of the bucket to hold it in place. It slips over the front edge of the bucket.

Please let us know how you like it. I'm not sure which implement I like more, but I'm starting to think that the BB is almost as fun as the BH. This morning I spread another 14 tons of gravel -- second time I have done it -- about three hours of effort each time. The BH has the feel of a scalpel and the BB is like a paintbrush. It's really gratifying to see a bunch of lumpy piles that have been dumped around with the FEL merge into a flat, even surface! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The BH requires great concentration (IMO), but the BB is sort of a Zen thing -- you must become the BB, Grasshopper! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I put the boxblade on this morning and gave it a try for about an hour or so. I have no other experience to compare to, but I think with a little more seat time it will work out fine. I was able to level off an area that had a slight crown in it. Not perfectly, mind you, but with practice.... I agree about the backhoe being a much more precise instrument. They are both fun though. I'm just having a ball on it no matter what lever I'm pulling!! The hardest thing to do on the tractor so far is getting off of it /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
