Well I finally got pictures posted on my website of my work light installation. Thanks for the info on the switches, they worked out perfectly.

Yeah, I saw them posted on another tread they look great. Those switches really give it that factory look. I noticed you placed them on the right side vs. the left where I mounted them. I like your location but I had to many to mount. I will tell you I am not looking forward to moving them to a new tractor since things do not seem to be working out for my NH TC24D. I was very nervous cutting the plastic to mount them the first time. I was surprised that I did as nice of a job as I did; don’t think I can do that again.

Not to change the subject but where did you get your hitch at? Could you take a close up picture of it. I looks great.

Not to jump in on George's post here, but I hope he is writing a report for us on a successful meeting with NH - so I'll tell you that the hitch is from Mad River, Inc.

I first noticed it when George posted the pics of his strobe lights and had to look it up. I ordered one and then asked for advice, everyone said they liked theirs. Couldn't agree more. Nice piece of iron, well made, and very handy to have. Unit was $89 and about $10 shipping, had it in a few days. Good outfit to deal with. Probably would have almost that much in off the shelf materials plus the time to put it together, so I think it was worth it.

I forgot to mention you'll need a draw bar to mount the hitch frame.

Well, no. But then I live on a private road with only 1 entrance/exit and we get very little traffic. I do use my flashers. And I have considered adding strobes for more visibility. But most of the ditch work is done now so I really don't spend much time along the roadside anymore. I will drive down the road, again with flashers on and the appropriate SMV signs. I'm thinking of getting an "Illinois" required SMV sign to replace my current one since Illinois requires a higher standard of visiblity.

Might be a good Idea.

I never install the SMV on my tractor,but i haven't had it off the property either.

LBrown, as I wrote in another reply, I'm pretty much done with my ditch work so I'm rarely crosswise in the road anymore on any tractor, the quotation of mine you posted was likely written in 2003?

As for the Illinois approved SMV signs, I have not purchased any yet. But I have SMV signs on my tractors and several implements. One is glued directly to my toolbox which is bolted behind my seat Toolbox SMV sign , I also have one glued directly to the back of my weight box. I also have two that are mounted on a post and can be moved from the New Holland to the Kubota or can be slipped into a slot on my 2 tank spray rig. To get a tractor down to my valley area it is easiest to drive out my driveway out into the road, down to the road a couple hundred feet and then down a ~20' slope from the road to the valley area, and while my road is a private road without a ton of traffic, we still get the occasional teenager who runs up at too high of speed.

I do have questions about the strobes. First, how bright are they in relation to the factory flashers? Second, why are the rear lights mouned facing the side of the tractor instead of the back of the tractor? In your original post you said you work near the roadway and you move on the roadway so do you rely on the rear factory lights to protect your back? Or do you work in the road with the sides of the tractor facing oncoming cars?

I am working on the ditches at my property and find myself in the roadway quite a bit. Often with the sides of the tractor facing cars, but most cars travel at modest speeds on our road; still, I have wondered about being smacked in the side while working.

If he has the lights on a swivel he can rotate them to any direction he wants them. </font>

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( Here is a shot of the not so permanent location of the rear strobe. The reason not to mount them fixed is due to the need move them facing the rear when needed. I really am not sure if I will end up just mounting them where they are and relying on the stock factory rear flashers.
Also note I added a LED marker light under the strobe it really complements the lighting package on the tractor.

I noticed one of your lights has a yellow lens on the front and back of the light.

Are they also available with white or clear lenses?

I think it is overkill. Here is a type I use. Hope this works.

If not look under federal signal on ebay.
I work on the interstate highways and in my opinion that would be a great distraction and you should be seen.
But for the money the federal signals I use, along with ecco, whelan & North american signal lights for alot less money work just as good.

I use the lights on this interstate during rush hour traffic and have had no problems along with many large contractors and none have spent that much money on a setup and still get great results .
Sorry for being blunt but I cannot see spending all that money when I could have a nice attatchment to use and still be seen spending 150 for just a lightbar or less than $100 for a single revolver mounted on the roll bar.
