Issues with new DK35 and dealer

Your tires show on the sidewall 13.6x24. The stock tires should be 12.4x24 by Kioti's specs. There is at least a good inch or more difference between the tire diameter sizes. As RandyT mentioned, those tires do look like rice patty tires. If you check Goodyears site, you'll see the difference. Normal lugs are from 1 inch to 1 1/4 inch. Yours look like 2 inches or more as used for the rice pattys or really sloppy stuff. They wouldn't hurt if they would be the right size. With the back tires a bigger diameter, I wonder what is mounted on the front? If the front are stock, then your 4wd travel ratio will be wrong. This would definately put a bind on the gears. DK35Vince's rims are different because different rims are used for the R4 Industrial tires. Your rims look correct, just the wrong size tire.

13.6x24 tires are standard ag size for the DK40 with the flater fenders, not the DK35 with the more rounded fenders.

Tread on your tires resembles the type found on ag tires from behind the old iron curtain.

The owner's manual I have shows that this tractor may have 2 sizes of tires:

Front: 7-16 4PR, 8-16 6PR
Rear: 12.4-24 6PR, 13.6-24 6PR

Mine has the larger ones fitted, both front and rear. Model tractor DK35/4R (assume that means 4-wheel drive). Looks like this is what they do as standard for Australia (perhaps dumping some unwanted rice patty tires in this country...?)

Anyway, I now have requested the tractor to be fitted with the size tires as seen on Kioti's website. Also adequate rear counter weights and proper grease gun, all at their expense. Filed this request both with dealer and distributor (the latter replied saying it will be taken up by management). The dealer never has responded to any email. Also complained to Kioti through their website.

Confirming what the other have said.. I checked out the Daedong website and the dealer installed the wrong size tires according to the Daedong specs, the DK35 rear tires should be 12.4-24. The DK40 has the 13.6-24 that you have now.

Front on the DK35 is 7-16 and the DK40 has 8-16

Daedong DK brochure I read for the info (Needs Internet Explorer!!) - EBookMaker

Thanks rmahlert, I see it now. Owner's Manual is for DK35, DK40 and DK450L combined, with your brochure showing the DK35 has the smaller tires. They fitted the wrong tires.

I also think the issue is dealer prep. I've had my DK35 for 18 months and 350 hours and the only similar issue I've had was the low coolent light came on just before my 50 hour service. I added less than one pint of coolent and the light went out. Must be a very sensitive indicator.

Good looking tractor, hope dealer resolves all your issues with it. Once you get the bugs worked out, I bet you get a lot of work done.

The one thing for me that comes to mind is that because you have the wrong tires, you have might have excessively warn the 4wd. I may be way off on this one, I am no tractor mechanic, but I was told you have to "match" front to rear or you will strain / wear / break the system...

This could be a valid enough complaint for a new tractor, or an extended warranty on drivetrain...

UPDATE

After one year of negotiating and only after I gave the dealer and distributor an ultimatum to litigation, today we exchanged tractor (from DK35) to a DK40 and an agreed amount of money (AU$4,000).

I should be happy, but not quite. On the plus side, the tires do have proper clearance, it does have mid PTO, a horn and a mirror. On the minus side, the seat is lower (too low) and does not appear to be adjustable in height. The seatbelt is of a different (less convenient) type, the FEL bucket appears to have been changed from the one fitted when I inspected it and I am unable to operate the 4WD lever (can't get it to come up to 2WD). The DK35 had a convenient push-button.

At time of inspection it has done 9 hours with about 2/3 tank of diesel. On delivery is has done 10 with the tank virtually empty.

I am sorry for having ever dealt with a Kioti/Daedong dealer. Maybe I should place a stop payment on the cheque and return to litigation. Or perhaps I have become too paranoid about the whole thing.
