Kubota Rtv 1100 x2 And Rtv 900
Hello everyone,

Just recently bought 2 2007 RTV 1100s, one with 60 hours and another with 527 hours that has a turbo. The turbo 1100 starts and runs great and when the transmission is cold it performs well. But as the transmission warms up the power goes down and when climbing a grade, the temp goes way up.. And it will get to the point that it will not go up a hill except in low. The other will just blow by it like it is standing still. The only real difference between the two is tires, the low hour one has the factory original tires and the turbo one has 27" Essex tires. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated..

I'm doubting the tires have anything to do with the problem.
Replace the Hyd fluid with SUDT2 with all new filters is my first shot..

was at the Kubota dealer 2 days ago and he told me about a client who brought one in with an airfilter so packed with dirt he didn't know how the vehicle even started.....I'm sure you already checked this, but just thought I'd thrown that out there.....

a Turbo huh? I wonder if that's a possible add-on for my 1140 CPX?

John, Will do Thanks

Table, I am sure they are available but not cheap. Put a new K & N air filter the day it arrived, the filter I took off was still very clean as well..thanks for the input thought.

Chetos,

Check the temp on the other 1100, both should be the same or very close. I had a 2009 1100 with a turbo and never had over heating issues.

When cold, left over night, remove rad cap and make sure rad itself is full. Catch tank under the box should have fluid up to the cold level mark when the engine is cold.

Also check that one or both back brake levers are not stuck on. Mud bogging forces mud into the joints and rear brakes are know to stick reducing speed from 25+ mph down to 15 mph with just one brake stuck on. Compare both to the good running 1100. Try tapping them back to loosen then test drive without using the brakes if possible. If sticking, it's a clean and lubricate job where the shafts enter the case. I've never had to do this so can't describe the fix.

Spud,

Thanks.. The radiator is full, and the fan is working. It does fine on flat a level, but as I start going up on an incline the speed slowly bleeds off till I am running 8 to 10 miles an hour. If I try to go any faster than that the engine revs more but the speed does not increase.. Followed by an increase in temp. As the temp goes up the amount of power going to the ground decreases.. To the point that climbing a hill is only possible in low. The other 1100 just blows by it.. No rise in temp and will climb the same hill in high..after running the previous stretch of road that I could only run 8 to 10 miles an hour on.. But it is able to do it at 15 to 20 miles an hour..

Agree 100%, that is the first step.

That would also be my first attempt...Visually check the condition of the HST fluid too..Not a scientific thing, but it should be clear. Change all of the HST filters...Grab a quart or 2 of SUDT2 while you're at the dealer. I don't recall any major fluid loss when changing the filters but you do have to replace what was in them anyway.

If you notice non Kubota filters on the machine now, I'd suspect that there may not be SUDT in the trans. There have been plenty of arguments over the necessity of using Kubota filters and fluid but I'm still sold on OEM stuff. Too expensive of a machine to gamble in my opinion.

I have a RTV 500 and noticed a Huge difference in fluid used. At 25 hours I changed everything and used what my dealer sold me. Ambra Multi G 134. They claimed it is what they put in all of them. Noticed a hyd whine and slight performance issues. I changed everything again at 50 hours and used Super UDT2. World of difference. Expensive juice but worth it.
