Is your bucket curl weak?

My local dealer has a 24 hr 4066R that has the hydraulic valve regen problem. With the boom fully retracted and the bucket sitting on the ground the curl cylinders will not extend to full dump. It won't lift the front end of the machine. The other compact deeres I've checked don't have this issue. I've read JD has replaced SCVs when owners voice enough complaint. Does anyone have any experience with this? Since it isn't all that commonly done to fully extend the curl when the bucket sits flat on the ground the problem may not be noticed.

Sounds like there is a restriction in the valve to return oil back to sump freely. Need to verify that the oil return lines are open to the rockshaft area. You can remove lines or port caps to see. If the ports are blocked the Rockshaft manifold needs to be replaced.

Thanks for your advice sisupower. The selling dealer claims nothing is wrong with the machine. Frustrating. I spoke with large JD dealer service managers in Indiana and Alabama since my post. One wasn't familiar with the condition. THe other told me he had noticed this and according to JD it is designed this way to prevent the floppy bucket condition. He said when activated the curl function sends fluid to both sides of the cylinders ram to prevent aeration in the system when dumping heavy loads. But as a result the weak full dump occurs. My 4600 and MIL's 3032 doesn't do this. The dump/curl function will lift the front off the ground at idle on both machines, without a grunt. I guess this is something an owner has to live with as JD claims that's the way its supposed to be. I know I've read where someone who owned a different series CUT had the same issue and JD replaced the mid SCV.

Yes it's an issue and they do replace the scv.

I explained the lack of power in the bucket dump to the JD regional rep yesterday. He explained as I learned earlier this is how the system is designed around the regeneration of the cylinders. This morning he called back and said the factory has a replacement valve that does have the regen lockout position. He continued to say JD had gone to the valve that is on the tractor now (with the regen feature) to reduce the claims they received for loader damages due to improper operation and complaints of flopy buckets . It sounds like the replacement valve he spoke of is the one that was originally on this series tractor. According to my dealer, JD will not pay for the valve or the replacement labor. At the time of tractor purchase the valve is $800. and labor was estimated at 5 hours. If I
purchase the valve at a later date the valve is $1400. At least now I have a better understanding of things. Just think JD should at least share in this cost.

Looks like another of those things that one can't have it both ways... but I like the regen that is on my 4300 now.. not sure what they had to change to go away from what works.
My curl isn't weak at all.. with the forks on, I can lift the tractor front end and drive the forks into the ground.. do often to uproot trees and pop out large rocks.
