yanmar YM-1700
;)Another CL Yanmar Bargin... Not! I won't bother to link to the Ad although I would like to ask just how much do we think our Yanmar Tractors are worth?
This person has a package deal with itemized items listed,
in the Atlanta CL
Yanmar YM-1700 Tractor Package With Trailer!

This Package Includes:
1. Yanmar YM-1700 22HP Diesel Tractor With 3-Point Hitch and PTO
2. 3 and a Half Foot Rotary Cutter
3. Scrape Blade
4. 16 Foot Dual Axle Electric Brake Trailer With Ramps
5. Drawbar
6. 1 Year Warranty! all for $ 6891

..........
the way I see it if take the trailer value of say! 1200 & attachments of 1300 add together their value at most comes to 2500.... leaving the price for the tractor estimating $4400 and this being a ym-1700 not the most sought after of Yanmars,
 here in the south tractors might not have the same value as those in other parts of the country, but still I know what I paid for mine and it was certainly not 4400 bucks ;) actually was less than half of this, I suppose the markup comes with the 1 year warranty given,:confused2:
BTW if anyone thinks this is a good Package deal I can do one better;)
How bout my 1700 with 4 ft bush cutter,4 ft box scrape,5 ft disc harrows, and a FEL all loaded on a trailer for 5000:D

I seen that also. Sure was very similar to Spalding's add in Ga. The difference was everything New and Refurbished. to Used with a Loader for the same price.

Seems a little steep to me. I bought dozens of nice 1700,s for $1500 each wholesale, not so long ago. Ken Sweet

I think YM1700 is a sleeper, a model worth more than the discounted prices they go for.

I have the next larger model, YM240 (YM2000) and I virtually never run it at full output. YM1700 would do everything I need.

As I understand it YM1700/YM2000 are near twins with the only difference cylinder bore size and tire size, plus maybe gear ratios. YM1700 lacks a water pump but since it will output full hp without one, this difference is irrelevant.

Has anyone owned both? What was your experience?

Good point made... I think with the 1700 having more steel around the cylinder bore might be why it can have better heat tolerance and not require a water pump and is less susceptible to cracking a cylinder wall if over heated, I never could be sure as to why anyone would build a water cooled engine and not have a water pump to circulate the water, But hey it works! I have now run my tractor for over 1 year with no overheating issues, although I do keep a close watch on the water level but never a drop low or had to add any,and also keep the Rad screen cleaned off, all-in-all been a darn good little tractor,
But still if I had 4-5000 bucks to spend on a tractor it would have been for a 25+HP,;) I was on a budget when Buying my 1700, I was trying to only spend and get the most for what I got out of the sale of My previous smaller kubota, I thought I did real good for scoring the 1700 for 2100 bucks, although I did have to re-paint/recondition some things about it, but I'd be safe to say I got no more than 2500 in the tractor alone;)

I picked up a 2 year old double axle trailer 8000 gross with elect brakes a couple of months ago for 800 bucks off from craigslist. Up here in the PNW the Yanmars seem to bring a higher price, but that is still a little high.

I saw a month or so ago a yanmar in the ATL area that was a VN recon i think and the guy had had it a year or more and had all the stuff like 4 ft cutter ym2000 maybe a boxblade, a trailer and i think a yanmar tiller. After discounting a reasonable price for each additional, you could buy a reconditioned tractor with a 1 year warrenty from spaliding for cheaper? What are some thinking, that they buy something and use it and it actually apreciate? I know in some folks cases by scoring a deal and an ugly tractor and putting $65 worth of paint on it and then reseling they could get a deal, but if u buy a tractor you can almost count on getting less or the same as you paid for it.
