PT-422
I've been passing by this tractor everyday on my way to and from work. They use it to move transmissions and anything else heavy at this shop. I never really noticed it until I got my PT. Today I had a few minutes extra and snapped some photos to share with other PT owners.

It's a little ragged, but that shows lots of work done. The owner said it was about 25 years old, made by Case, about 60hp and I think he said the brand was "Davis" but my memory isn't that great and there was a 5 minute period between here and there... and I can forget a lot in 5 minutes.

Yet another side of this animal. Nice custom touch having chrome wheels on one side, and white on the other.

Phils,

What a nifty tractor, with a strong resemblance to our "modern" PTs. Thanks for sharing.

Might be interesting to get a history on it. There are a number of books written about articulated tractors, but I wouldn't know where to begin looking. AT 60 hp, it must be a hefty little brute.

Now with a new seat from TSC, a pressure wash, some TLC and some green paint, I see a transformation in the making...

Give Fourteen ten minutes and it will look like no other.

Here is another early PT want-to-be. It is a project that we built as a project in a manufacturing class that I taught about 8 or 10 years ago in a Vo-Ag program at a local high school. It was built with 2 old cub cadet rear ends placed front to front and a hydraulic motor driving each. It's drive power and power steering was supplied by a 16 hp engine and a hydraulic pump.

Nope didn't water anything. But kept a close eye on me, being a stranger poking around "his" tractor. Also repeatedly kept dropping a ball at my feet, a real mean one he is!

Looks like you sit on the rear half and feet rest on front. That must be interesting.

Looks like the seat is cantilevered out from the front section, similar to the 400 series Power Tracs. Look in the first piture. You'll see the arm coming out of the front section to hold the seat up over the articulated joint.

Nope! I've already got one old beat up yellow tractor in my garage in worse shape than that. Wife says if I get rid of it, I can use the $$ to by PT attachments. My guess is it is worth more in scrap metal than running. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yep, MR is correct in that it's cantilevered like our PTs. I thought the overall shape of the ROPS was very similar too (although it probably wasn't called ROPS when it was made).

I didn't look to see if it was 4WD. I did notice a driveshaft that went to the rear axle. The owner said there's a hydraulic motor that turns the driveshaft. Next time I've got extra time I may look at it again and look underneath. This trip was late in the day and he (and we) were getting ready for "go-home-o'clock".

Dang but business is slow today (you'd think the holidays were approaching or something). Think I'll take the rest of the day off and do some 'work' with my PT. I have 10 gallons of gas in the truck bed that I got earlier today and am eager to start using it.

A few people have accused me of buying a "toy" (my PT). I have to patiently explain that a BOAT is a toy, my PT is a TOOL (and more fun than a boat?). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
