Kubota B7610
I'm a proud new Kubota owner and have little experience with diesel engines. When I crank the engine to my B7610, there seems to be a lot of white smoke that billows out for about 5 - 10 seconds and then it goes away. I assume this is normal but would someone help ease my mind.
On a separate note, thanks to all on TBN who take the time to write and respond to comments. It was an excellent resource for me when making my purchase descision. Very happy with my Kubota.

That's normal, just a little unburnt fuel due to the cold cylinders.

I second the normal. The extra fuel is partially from the engine and cylinders being cold and partially from injecting extra fuel to aid starting. Sort of like a choke, except diesels don't have chokes - they have to add more fuel.

Yeah go by a trucking company lot sometime when the temperature is 20 or below and they don't plug the tractors in and you wouldn't believe the smoke.

I had a problem with water in my fuel with my new B7800 that caused continous white plumes of smoke to come out the exhaust. I had to change the filter and then eventually drain the tank of it's fuel. After that I added PowerServe to the new fuel and everything is now good.

Every time I start up the tractor I have the initial puffs of white smoke and I wonderied why that is....now I know and don't need to worry
