Frankly i have never paid attention to this until today. Between the front and back section.. When I sit on the seat the machine bends down a bit. I have tightened the lower nut, but it only goes so far. I am wondering if some of the bearings are shot, or maybe this is normal. It clunks when it moves up and down. I know there should be some motion, just not sure how much is normal.

Carl,

Cut back on the fries!

I will try to remember to check it out. Bug me if you do not hear from me.

Hi Carl,

Feeling guilty about the french fries comment. I know it is really the doughnuts. But any ways, I went out to the barn (damm that guilt) and mine does not lower when i sit on it. But i have the snow plow on and that is resting on the ground. It might be applying enough pressure on the joint to inhibit movement. I have the suspension seat so i also tried pushing down on the front half and rear half separately. No movement that i can notice. Next time the wife is out there, i will ask her to look while i do it. The movement of the suspension seat would make it hard for me to notice the tractor moving when i sit unless it was significant.

Ken

PS. Andy, when it comes to giving Carl abuse, there is a long line so you have to move quick.

I have never noticed any movement when getting into the seat on my 1845. I weight about 200 lbs.

From your description I would characterize what you are seeing as abnormal--a worn or broken component.

Ahhh. .. If it was only the fries, but it is the 14 hours a day behind my desk, plus the bowl of ice cream and the lack of a woman I really want to impress that brings me to my current weight.

So, yes. I agree. I think the bearings are shot. Going to be interesting to see how to replace these bad boys...

Ahh, and I think we have a conclusion to the writers strike so I am back to LA next week.

Crying, crying... crying...
