I used it today and when I slowed down the pto sounded like it is ratchiting so I went on and slowed down again it did the same thing I had the brush hog hooked up by the way this is the first time I have used the pto since I bought it about 2 weeks ago is there such a thing as a ratcheting pto

Sounds normal.
Your tractor has an internal overrunning PTO. It is there so a brush mower Etc. can't push the tractor ahead through the driveline while the mower speed is winding down.

I to noticed this same thing with my Century 2035.

When I would let the bush hog slow from full speed it would click/ratchet as it slowed and I was worried something could be wrong.....
So this must be normal for my tractor also.

Should I assume this to be correct.

I didnt want to start a new thread since this is the info I was curious about to.

Everything seemed normal ...but the ratchet sound on decel of bush hog from the pto.
