Thanks for all your help so far. Just wondering if my tractor (pic attached) has a real ROPS. The label on the frame says it's made in West Germany by Fritzmeir, and has various serial numbers including an OECD number. It's not called a ROPS - they call it a 'safety frame'. You can see in the pic that there are supports under the wheel guards. It's very sturdy and I'm assuming that it is designed to partially collapse to absorb the energy of a roll over?? Thanks, Ged

Welcome to the TBN.
My first assumption from looking at your picture is that you have more of a canopy roof with 4 point support ( and a darn nice one at that ) then a true ROPS. What you have is certainly better then having nothing and I suspect it will allow a certain amount of protection in a rollover but the whole assembly is only as strong as the sheet metal fenders that it's bolted to.
Lets hope that you or any of us tractor owners, never have to find how well our ROPS, canopys or FOPS work.

The supports on the ROPS on my TC25D go down to the rear axle, it doesn't look like yours do. My guess is what you have is meant to protect you from falling objects (perhaps why they include the word 'Safety' in the description), not to protect you in the event of a rollover.

I too think you have a very sturdy elongated canopy that is nicer than most, but not a ROPS.

Edit: Here is a screen image of the rollbar assembly for your tractor from the New Holland website.

G'day mate and welcome to TBN blue:)

All the forces go directly to the the fenders, and they will crush like tin can in case of rollover. It is a great looking canopy/sun shield indeed that kind of acts as FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) for minor branches and stuff. The back posts are not beefy enough and can't tell if it goes to axles, doubt it if it does.

yep.. I'd expect that to all crush right down to the rubber in the event of a rollover.. you included.

looks like a great sun shade canopy..

OK - Enough said! I'll be putting on a proper ROPS ASAP. I'll try and keep the canopy by modifying it in some form. And no - the frame supports do not go to the diff hub (see pic). Shame because it's a great sun / weather cover. Cheers, Ged

Ged,

As you said, it is a great sun shade and would be a pity to lose it. I'm sure you
can put a proper ROPS and may be ending up to making the back of the canopy in to the ROPS structure or just trimming it off enough for the ROPS to protrude.

To my knowledge, 4110 Series II Fords were never sold in North America. So whatever is bolted to it didn't have to meet US standards. I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt that is a ROPS certified structure by any standard. There just doesn't seem to be sufficient support under the fenders, particularly at the front leg.

Holy Thread Revival Batman!!!!

Came across this in a search. It's not obvious from the pics but that is a ROPS.

Their are two struts supporting the fenders that are made from solid inch and a half bar, with a large plate on the end of each one. the upper structure is made from inch and a half heavy wall box with similarly substantial plates on the end. the plates on the upper structure are bolted, through the fender to the lower structure forming a complete rops.

It's made by fritzmeir but is listed in the ford parts book for europe.

it's also available as a fully closed in cab.

just said i'd update this in case someone else stumbles across it in a search like I just did.
