I own a Kubota M7040 and purchased the Parts Manual and Shop Manual from the local dealer for a hefty price. The Parts Manual is labeled for a M6040 and when I asked, the manager said that Kubota ships the M6040 manual because it is the same as for a M7040. It doesn't make sense.

Is this for real?

Thanks

Topanga, try sending a private PM to messicks here on TBN. They are a advertised internet dealer and they helped us on TBN with answers we need to know.

Users manual would be the same, I think. The 2 tractors have the same motor, transmission, hydraulics, etc......

Yes, same V3307-DI engine, hydraulics etc. etc. - but I think the 7040 uses a turbocharger for a few more horsepower. The Kubota website isn't clear - the specification sheets say they are both turbocharged - but the "build my Kubota" section says they are both naturally aspirated. The weight difference is about what a turbo would add. So much for proof reading...

If your M6040 parts book lists the turbo, then I think you have it covered.

Yes, they appear to be the same manuals. Surprising though, there are several differences between them. That should be broken out in the manual.

My KX121-3 miniX has the same manual as the KX91-3, just a couple of pages detailing the differences.

OK, it's official.

The M6040 Parts Manual has the turbocharger on page 60--must mean that it covers M7040 as well.

Thanks for the hints and advice.

The M5040/M6040/M7040 tractors were equipped with naturally aspirated engines for a couple of years after these models were introduced. Recently Kubota came out with the "-1" versions of these tractors with turbochargers, the power did not really change but I've heard that the change was made to improve emissions.
