Price Check Is this a good price for a used L3450?

Hi everyone,

New to this forum but I've got 16 acres. 11 of woodland and about 4 of pasture. I've got a small 14hp Deere garden tractor that is taking a beating so I need to get something larger. There is a private individual who is selling this Kubota and I don't know if it's reasonably priced.
1992 Kubota L3450 4wd, 36 hp, 4 cyl Diesel, glide shift tranny, 8sp forward 8sp reverse, rear diff lock, 956 hours.
LA650 loader, 6' belly mower, brush grill, block heater, calcium in the rear tires, the tires are the industrial type.

The tractor is in great shape, no leaks, garage kept, used for snow plowing and mowing. He's asking $14,500

Does that sound reasonable or out of the ball park?

IF you know the owner, and how he's taken care of his tractor, and if everything is well maintained, like you say, then I'd say it's in the ballpark: not a steal, but probably a solid investment. I'd price comparable new tractors, just to get a sense of value. 1000 hours of use is not a problem, if it's been maintained.

Well, I don't know the owner or how well he took care of it so that works against it, plus I'm taking his word for it that he maintained well.

After some researching, I discovered it's priced at the top end, what it would be priced at if sitting on a dealers lot. The book value on it as a base tractor, wholesale $5,500 retail $7,000, then add for attachments. So unless he comes down, he can keep it!

I was told that 800 hours is comparable to 70k-80k miles on a car. Does that sound about right? Granted, alot of other factors come into play such as if they're mowing hours, plowing hours, loader hours, reg. maintenance, etc.
