Price Check Is this a fair price for a new JD2305?

Sounds like a decent price... be sure to give your local guy a shot at your deal. You'll be glad you bought local down the road.

Also... like JDF already mentioned... go with the 53" bucket. The tractor will handle it... just be sure you have plenty of ballast.

I'm gonna have them switch the bucket to a 53", and this dealer was filling the tires with windshield washer fluid? Is that normal? Never heard of that? I've heard of Calcium Chloride and I keep hearing about Rim Guard. Seems like Rim Guard is much better? No mowing with the tractor, at least not for now.

Windshield washer fluid is sometimes used. It doesn't quite have the density of RimGuard which doesn't quite have the density of calcium chloride. On the 2305 size tires, RimGuard can add about 110 lbs. per tire. It is a "beet juice/molasses" derivitive and if it leaks out won't kill your grass or poison your pets. It also won't freeze.

Good point, and pets we have between the dogs and the horses...we don't want poision!

Hello all, I've been an avid fan of TBN for quite some time, for all sorts of useful discussions and answers beyond the Tractor world. Now however, I'm in need of all you Tractor experts out there!

I'm about to purchase my very first tractor, a JD2305. After some serious price shopping, here's my best deal so far...

A new 2305 with the following...
R4 Tires (liquid filled)
200 CX Loader
Ballast Box
Hood Guard
49" materials bucket (not sure what this is???)
Frontier RB2060L 5' Rear Blade

All for $12525.00

Broken down...
Tractor $9183.00
Loader + Ballast $2676.00
Blade $426.00
Filling Tires $240.00

I'm located in NJ but will have to drive about 3 hours into PA to pick this baby up. Only one local dealer in Norther NJ and he wants 13100 for tractor and loader alone. PA seems to have more competition, so I found better pricing out there.

Any thoughts on this deal? Anybody else out there with this same rig? Happy Thoughts & Not so Happy Thoughts all gladly accepted!

That price sound great! I was quoted 15600 for the same thing without filling the tires! JD is pricing them selfs out of the game! I was priced 21k for the 2530 and 18k for the 2320, equiped the same way!

Sounds like a good buy to me. I just ordered a 2305 the other day, although equipped a bit differently. I added a mid mount mower, wheel weights and cruise control... However for items in common:

2305, 200CX Loader, ballast box and hood guard, they're into me for about $500 more than what you're paying (almost all of it in the cost of the tractor). I'm located in CT which seems to be among the higher priced regions......

As it is, I ended up getting my 2305 from a dealer about 20 minutes away because the dealer who's only 2 or 3 miles from my house was nearly $1000 higher than the best deal I could work. In my mind that's a couple of extra implements somewhere down the line...

I'm in Jersey too, and traveled into PA for the better deal. Unfortunately I didn't luck out with my dealer, Deer Country in Allentown, PA. I'm about an hour away and of course during the sales pitch, salesman mentioned that because of the "close" distance, they'd transport my machine for free if problems. This wasn't in writing, and of course, when the problems arose, I was charged for pickup and delivery. My fault. He later told me that he only meant if I bought a new piece of equipment for my 2305, that the delivery would be free. I've also had a few minor problems with my 2305, and found the PA dealer very uncooperative, which I feel stems from limited direct, personal visits. So, I now use my local guy, and am very happy. Wish I would have bought there. But just my $.02.

As for taxes, dealer wrote on bill of sale that owner will pay NJ sales tax, something which I did (didn't want to piss off IRS). Good Luck!

As far as my price: 2305 - $9700 / 200CX, ballast box, hood guard - $2650 / 62C with indep. lift - $1950 / cruise control - $225 ($14,525 total).
