Hello all, I've been an avid fan of TBN for quite some time, for all sorts of useful discussions and answers beyond the Tractor world. Now however, I'm in need of all you Tractor experts out there!

I'm about to purchase my very first tractor, a JD2305. After some serious price shopping, here's my best deal so far...

A new 2305 with the following...
R4 Tires (liquid filled)
200 CX Loader
Ballast Box
Hood Guard
49" materials bucket (not sure what this is???)
Frontier RB2060L 5' Rear Blade

All for $12525.00

Broken down...
Tractor $9183.00
Loader + Ballast $2676.00
Blade $426.00
Filling Tires $240.00

I'm located in NJ but will have to drive about 3 hours into PA to pick this baby up. Only one local dealer in Norther NJ and he wants 13100 for tractor and loader alone. PA seems to have more competition, so I found better pricing out there.

Any thoughts on this deal? Anybody else out there with this same rig? Happy Thoughts & Not so Happy Thoughts all gladly accepted!

That is a pretty good price for that package, inspector. Why not give your local dealer a shot at matching it???

inspector,

I recommend the 53" bucket for this combination. Are they loading the tires with RimGuard? Also, are you intending on doing any mowing with this tractor?

Thanks for the info JDFanatic,

I'm gonna have them switch the bucket to a 53", and this dealer was filling the tires with windshield washer fluid? Is that normal? Never heard of that? I've heard of Calcium Chloride and I keep hearing about Rim Guard. Seems like Rim Guard is much better? No mowing with the tractor, at least not for now.

This does sound like a good deal. How much would they charge you to deliver it? My 4310 was delivered from about 2.5 hours away, and it was only an additional $300 bucks. With the moment by moment rise in gas prices, it might be worth asking for a delivered quote and ask for something like loaded tires Free?

I'm actually in the process of giving my local dealer a shot at matching right now, i've heard that you can save some cash on parts and service in the future if you go back to the original dealer.

Good point, i'll have to ask about the tires and the delivery too. It might be worth the money.

I just bought a JD 2305 with 200X loader and 4 ft. box blade for $12,120. Dealer is going to load the tires with water and antifreeze for free.

Sounds like a pretty good deal compared to what I was quoted here in western PA. I actually did my shopping (buying) out of state in WV because the prices were so much better. I would give the local guy a chance, especially if you like that dealership better, that's where you most likely be going for parts. If he came close I would even think of paying a little more, I don't how the sales tax works in NJ, but buying out of state may save you there also?

Some PA dealers will charge you sales tax others won't. Not sure how it works either.
