I don't really know what that type of equipment costs.

But looks like one of those close ones, where your not sure. (obviously, that's why we're debating it)

Lack of phone number, COULD be an indicator. If a local boy was selling it, most likely he would have a phone number in the ad.

Some of them are so obvious they are funny, but you know it just takes one poor sucker to make the scammers day. Some guy that doesn't know what the price should be, sees a nice shiny 4x4 tractor with all kinds of attachments for $5,000. and thinks "I can afford that"

Not sure... don't know about Canada but in the US, if it's over $5 or 6K it becomes a more serious offense so the scammers stay below that mark.

It has new tracks, so it has a bunch of hours... could even be a second set . New paint to me, means they are either hiding something or dressing up a pig...:2cents:

I have no idea what they cost new, but I had the same thoughts about the paint/tracks..

What is the exchange rate or is that USD?

Also there are none of the typical misspellings in the ad..

It may be worth a shot checking it out more..

Easiest way to find out is to respond to the seller (I suggest you use a Yahoo, G-mail or Hotmail account) and see what they say.
If it is a scam, you'll know soon enough...

Ditto, The scammers here don't put a phone number down on the ad and you will never be available to see the machine. They are improving their spelling and copied photos with practice, like the -hores they are being?

Seems a bit on the low end of prices, but there's no tellling how many hours are on it. Are the new pins and bushings on the tracks or on the boom components? I'm guessing that it's for real and that it has a ton of hours on it and at the end of it's life.

Here is one that might be comparable for $18,000 US. No fancy paint job to hide anything, and it has 4,680 hours.

If you contact them and can go look at it, it might not be a scam. Just because you can go see it though, does not mean it is not a scam. It might be stolen or have a loan against it. It would take some checking to determine if it is legit and if it is, it will be gone quick at that price I expect.

Do the math... new tracks - $6,000; new pins and bushings (just bucket linkage) - $500; new paint (cut rate) - $2,000.

Let's see.. that's $8,500 give or take.

Anybody still think he (they) should/would only be asking $4,500 for a 10-11 year old excavator that sells in the neighborhood of $85K current new price??

I'd have duct-tape on my wallet even on the phone with those guys... oh, that's right - no phone number!

I'll let you know what "they" say... Sent an e-mail asking about the hours and where exactly I would be able to see it? Should have done that in the first place... Good point about it could be stolen or have a lien... (no, I'm not interested in it... Just wondering about it.)

SCAM!!!! Here's the bullcrappy reply...

This unit has absolutely no mechanical problem, The interior is like new, the engine has no leaks or problems.
I am letting it go for $13000, shipping included. I am selling it because I've relocated in Spain and it is too expensive to import it here. The unit is now at a shipper in the Yukon Territories, ready to be sent to its buyer. All the documents will be shipped with the unit.
Because I am not able to close the deal myself, I want to use eBay Buyer Protection ( visit website eBay Buyer Protection ) to handle the sale in order to protect me and also the buyer.
Let me know if you're interested and if you have questions.

EDIT, Ended up reporting to Gmail... hopefully to close the account before someone bites...

Now I think about it I have to agree with all of you guys. Even if I wanted this machine I would pay a legit price. Not some scam / stolen machine price.

Here is the add from the OP, it will most likely be taken down shortly. I did this because sometimes I do not see a thread until later and the link is no longer available. This way others will know what you were looking at.

I always liked this... if everyone would send them a bogus checking account number or visa account number... with bad information, they deposit or credit their account, but 10 days later *they* find that the money isn't there. ...but I guess that would be getting down to their level.

Not only stooping to their level.....have to wonder if providing bogus acct numbers might even subject you/me to legal implications.

Related- Several years ago I received a check (unsolicited) that was supposedly for a foreign lottery that I won by chance or random internet drawing. WARNING!! There was a conus phone number provided that remained active for atleast a week or two. Point is...even a phone number is no guarantee of authenticity. The hope here was that I would depost check (intended to cover foreign to US currency conversion costs etc) and send them the difference....we all know what would have happened....

P.S. The lottery check looks great in a picture frame :)

Glad the poster was not taken!
