I have used off highway diesel fuel for six years and it has saved me around 25 cents a gallon.
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as off highway gasoline?

I don't know about now, but when I was a kid working on the farm, we would get gasoline delivered and the guy would add red dye just like diesel today. You were only allowed to use in farm equipment or your trucks which had farm plates. This was in Kentucky.. JohnJ

I just get 5 gallon cans of unleaded gas from the gas station and then keep the reciepts. You fill out a special form and turn it in with the rest of your income tax forms and will get about 18 cents per gallon back (the federal part of the taxes).

In the Army I think we called it MoGas. Smelled like gas, looked like gas, taseted like gas but sure in the heck didn't perform like gas. :)

I thought that was gas gotten through a siphon hose instead of a gas pump.

KY erik has it right. Pay the tax and get the tax back at the end of the tax year.
20 yrs ago you could buy farm /offroad gas at several service stations. Most tractors went to diesel and away went the offroad gas.

Check your state's requirements for the refund , New Hampshire makes it quite painful (receipt criteria, etc) to get a refund of road tax because special interest groups have funneled the unrefunded monies into their own programs. Snowmobilers & ATVers (I'm both) benefit from this money as it goes into trail funds. Boaters have access to off highway gas at marinas and get a portion of the unrefunded funds. NH tax is about $.50/gallon. MikeD74T

Marina gas might be untaxed, but is aparently blended with gold! I take my own gas to the lake and gladly pay the tax,
