Is there any standardization for FEL control

I have a FEL on my Mahindra 3510. It has dual valves which are controlled by a single joy stick. When I first got it I had to push down to make the arm go up. Push left to raise the angle of the bucket.

I felt this was awkward and turned the left hoses around so that bucket arm goes up when I push up up on the joy stick.

How are your front end loaders controls hooked up?

I had to do some mental work changing to a joystick control. This worked for me.

Bucket tilt:
Push away to dump, pull toward you to hold.

Loader up-down:
Think of the operating lever going all the way to the bucket, with a fulcrum in the center. Push down to raise the bucket. Raise to lower the bucket.

There may be a European standard, but honestly I don't have time to check right now.

From what I have seen it is normally:
pull back to hoist the lift arms, forward to lower
move stick left to curl bucket back, right to dump
(normally you need more accurate control while curling, and most poeple have more control moving left)

FYI - From an ergonomic standpoint it is a little easier on your arm and wrist if you can rotate the joystick clockwise 10-20 degrees, depending on how far away it is. Along the same lines the joystick is often tilted forward a little.

How are your front end loaders controls hooked up?

Did you purchase your 3510 new from a dealer or used from an individual? As you discovered the boom lift hoses were reversed. That's easy to do if the hoses are not color coded. My New Holland came with color coded dust covers on the FEL quick connects (blue, red, yellow, green). As long as I can match color to color, the hoses are correct. It makes hooking them up a no-brainer.

What brought this about was that I noticed on my used Mahindra that the color coded bands were not matching up. So I naturally did the right thing and moved the hoses couplers around to match them up.

Bad mistake. I was mixing the control circuits up and my bucket would not up or down, curl or uncurl. I was pressurizing both sides of the circuit. oops...

Someone prior to me must have replumbed the lines ignoring the colored wraps.

It sounds like a consistent thing push down on the joystick to raise the arms and push to the left to curl. My last bucket tractor had two handles and up raised the bucket. The other up curled.
