Is There A YM270?

I know there is a YM177 that is a gray market, which is the only three digit YM that I knew of that was gray. Interesting, perhaps we have another?

We had YM177s in the early days....serious chunks of iron. Probably outweighed a 1700 by a good bit. Still, if Brent says he is aware of one, then a 270 was made. It's not on our domestic list, nor in the book of models manufactured by Yanmar (we actually only have the Yanmar pages, sent to us years ago by another importer). But re: the lights, Brent... yes I have seen those before, just can't recollect the model. Might have been a 177 or 2200, as I know it was a long time ago.

There is a YM270, YM273, YM173, & YM177. I have a YM270 parts book. I was considering taking a YM177 on trade. The YM173 & YM273 are mentioned in the YM2000 parts book in the comments column. These are all old tractors with virtually no parts support from Japan.

There is a YM270. I have a parts book for it. There are also some other 3 digit Japanese models that I've had inquires on. Some of the parts books mention in the comments column YM170, YM273, YM176, & YM276. I don't know if this referring to models or not.

Bimp!

I see a YM270 on CL in Stockton (Central California). Unfortunately
2 Cylinder diesel. Turns over but will not start.

A big heads-up to anyone researching YM270: Be sure you can find parts! They quit making these 40+ years ago.

There's some useful information in this old thread so I'll add to it instead of starting anew. Maybe this will help someone researching this in the future.

The Craigslist photos show some distinguishing features: Headlights in the rear fenders. Wing-like long grab bars that curve out away from where they are mounted. Intake through the hood and exhaust on the 'wrong' side like 2200/2700. And I'm surprised to learn that Yanmar used red paint and that squared hood prior to the green early YM1700.

After a little research I found this present TBN thread I'm posting to, and another elsewhere:
Leon (Vina Tractors) April 30 2003: That Yanmar YM 270 is older than YM 2700 for a couple years. YM 2700 was
built about 1970-1973 and YM 270 is probably around 1967-1969, and it has only 27 HP. Whoever sold you that tractor is dishonest to you.

A pretty thorough search all over Google located one other known YM270 in the whole world. In August it was auctioned in Thailand for $1,100. It was listed as 908cc (about 10% smaller than YM1700). s/n : Y224-205 e/n : 2W85-G811.

That listing had better photos:
