My TC's backup alarm is loud enough to wake the dead. I've had to (re)kill three zombies since it arrived. I'd like to tone-down the volume a bit. Is there some nice way of doing this that doesn't involve wire cutters? I like the alarm but the volume seems like it could cause an avalanche on level ground it's so loud.

Can you put something over it like a glove, rag or foam to muffle the sound ?

If it is a legally required back-up alarm you'd better not mess with it.
Even if off road you might find yourself in a mess if (somehow) your back-up alarm was shown to not give adequate warning.
The one on my truck is a bit of a shrieker, but the neighbors are shielded from it by my trailer and I try to arrange things so that I don't have to back out much when I leave really early - unless their party was running really late.

I have one of those on a man lift. The beeper is right where I stand and is a warning when the lift has too much tilt. I use the lift for my own private use. I just put a piece of duct tape over it. Muffles the sound a lot but can still hear it. Tape lasts several months.

Spudgunner,
The 110 dBs can be annoying! You may consider ripping out the bubble wrap "heat shield" on the underside of your bed (you will find that this will burn to a crisp soon anyhow if not removed)and "insulate" the back up alarm with it. Then buy some real heat shield and insulate the bed.

You may consider replacing it with one of the self-adjusting alarms (or just a smaller one). They adjust their volume based on the ambient noise. When I installed one (just a fixed volume one) on my dump truck, I put a cutoff switch so I could turn it off if conditions required it. I taught myself to leave it on unless it needed to be off, not the other way around. I find myself arriving (leaving) sometimes very late (early) so at times it is very beneficial. It is also really nice when you are hooking up to a trailer at night to be able to leave it in reverse so the guy has some additional light from the backup lights without him going deaf.
