Is there a simple program to date stamp digital pictures in bulk using the exif?

With ~11 grandchildren and 4 sets of parents taking numerous pictures I'm overwhelmed with pics. I'm looking for a simple program that will pull the date from the exif of a digital picture and burn it into the image, or maybe add a little strip of pixels across the bottom to display the date. Can anyone recommend a free program that does that?
I used to have a small camera that put on a time and date stamp on every photo.

IrfanView, will add a date stamp to individual files or in batch mode. Powerful program, yet simple to use, free. Been around a long time. I've used it 30yrs.

Irfanview also has extra packages that allow many other features. Its been my go to for batch processing for many years.

How do you get Irfanview to add the EXIF date on the visible image? Feed the date into some watermark feature?

This is way beyond anything I've needed to do with Irfanview.
