Is the Cyber Truck a Flop?

Tesla gets involved because he's seen as being interchangeable with the company, and while he was a billionaire before Tesla, now he's a hundreds-of-billions'aire precisely because of Tesla.
It may also hurt more, if we assume that Tesla's early adopters and prime customer base had a more liberal leaning, and may not be thrilled that Musk has aligned with Trump. Silly, it has no bearing on the vehicles or their costs, but many make their car-buying decisions based on image.

When specing the solar and batteries for our new house I told the vendors absolutely no Tesla products.

There's a big mailing list for folks where I live in the mountains in CA. Every time there's a wide spread power outage there's a lot of posts from people trying to get their Tesla system to work. None from people with other systems- those just work. Tesla's long had terrible software and security practices. Just those two would keep me away from Tesla products but there's so much more.

Tesla will end support for or even sue customers who say critical things about them. They lie about features. For example "full self driving" still doesn't work after ten years of promises. Elon's long been known to be a total jerk to employees. I have an intense dislike for "leaders" like that.

His politics just adds to the long list of reasons why I avoid anything he has anything to do with.

The Cybertruck adds "I'm rich and need people to look at me to feel validated" to all of that.

Trust me, your 'free charging at work' is a baked into your employment asset.

Nothing is free despite what you assume.
Here companies would receive grants for providing charging stations…

Not figured as compensation yet but cost to provide born by taxpayers.

Almost to a last one in my Bay Area circle was signaling going green, etc plus the part about single occupant in carpool lanes is no small thing during commute hours.

Now some but because they hear good things from coworkers…

That is coming to an end shortly I suspect.
I think the change of direction is going to greatly affect many in the SF Bay Area… I’m not counting on big bailouts for broke sanctuary cities… just saying.
