Is my Cub worth more complete or parted?

I have a '83 Cub 682 with a 50" cutting deck. The 17hp Kholer has about 100hrs on a rebuild. I am thinking about selling it to buy a freinds Case446 simply because the Case has a 3 point. However the Onan engine in the Case needs repaired/replaced. So I was thinking about retrofitting the Kholer into the Case and parting out the Cub.

I know the Cub is only worth about $400 as a mower but I've seen collectors buy these for as much as $1000. Is this normal or a isolated case? If I can get $600-$800 for it I think i'd just sell it.

Anyway I just was looking for some input and opinions on this since i'm not real savy on tractors.

Thanks, Chad

I don't know if you can get that much out of it or not.
I haven't sold my Bolens 850 with
front blade
rear tiller
2 Mower decks
2 sets of tire chains
weight tray with 2 weights
and I'm only asking 1248 for this whole package.:)

What is your time worth to tear it down and sell it piece by piece? Once you sell off the critical parts, what are you going to do with the rest if they don't sell or don't sell fast enough?

Well I picked up the Case 446, but havent paid for it yet, and it looks like if I keep it i'll have to split the case on the 16hp Onan. I'm thinking that will cost me around $300 just to do that. If I could sell the Cub for $650, I'd break even and have a more capable tractor to boot.

Your right about parting it though, Taking it apart is not near as much of a hassle as boxing and shipping the parts. I think i'm gonna clean it up nice and try to sell it whole.
