I just used Mr. Funnel to filter the diesel while fueling my tractor. Should I keep that funnel "diesel only," or is it OK to use the same funnel for gasoline also?

And, although it is brand new, my Mr. Funnel acts like an old timer. With a full funnel of diesel, it flows good. But as the level of fuel in the funnel drops, it slows to a crawl and then just drip, drip, drip. Then it stops entirely with fuel still in the funnel. I let the funnel (with fuel) sit for a half hour, and came back to find the fuel still in the funnel. Had to dump it back into the 5 gal can.

that's the design of the funnel itself. the remaining small amt of fuel after use is designed to capture water & impurities. you'll find varying opinions on what to do with that amt after each use. i personally don't like the idea of returning it to the original fuel source with possible small amts of contaminants. your call.

i'll let others speak to using the funnel for both gas & diesel. i use mine strictly for diesel. best regards

The OEM says nothing about its use on gasoline and diesel switch. You might call Hopkins Manufacturing Corp @ (620)342-7320. They also have a web site Hopkins Manufacturing Corporation or FloTool.com Personally, I pour the left over into a jug that is used for starting brush fires.

I don't mind saving the small quantity that won't filter for starting fires. But I question if it really is "bad" fuel, or if it just doesn't have enough pressure to work through the filter?

I don't believe the Mr Funnel is any different than any other funnel as far as cross use between diesel and gas. They do state that they should not be cleaned, other than perhaps wiping out the non filter plastic area.
I personally dump the remaining fuel back to the source for normal use, but have discarded this small amount in the past when filtering known contaminated fuel.

My understanding it wouldn't work any different for diesel or gas (you can use it for both). It simply has a fine mesh which stops particles and because water has a higher surface tension, stops water because it can't "fit" through the small mesh. To me I would dump (start fires or properly dispose of) the diesel because I would suspect it is bad. If you wanted to be really sure get a good/fresh batch of fuel and see if the funnel still stops, maybe you have a bad funnel or it is plugged with something. If it drains it all then you have bad fuel in your 5 gallon can.
