I'm mainly interested in hearing from the 2015 owners but anyone feel free to offer your opinioin.

I went to the power show in Columbus, OH yesterday and sat on a few CUTs. I really felt for my needs, 80% mowing (5 acres rolling terain), moving snow, tilling gardens, that the 2015 was more than enough tractor.

I priced a Mahindra 2015 w/ FEL, 60" MMM.

Are there any of you, that own a 2015, that wish you had gone to a 2615 and why? My father in law (who farms full-time) wants me to go to the 2615 tractor w/ the 26Hp. but if I do that I probably won't get the FEL because of budget.

I'm trying to hold the cost around $15,000. Feel free to offer any other advice about either of these two models you wish. Thanks.

I also sat on a Kioti CK20, and liked it also, but the price was a bit higher than the Mahindra.

I agree with your father-in-law, more is better. I have 5 acres also with 2 tractors (check my profile) both too small for some of the projects I want to do. After you have a tractor, you'll find all kinds of things to do with it.

If you plan on moving snow and garden work, I would not get a MMM. I would recommend a 3 point mower, they are alot easer to remove and makes your tractor alot more versital.

If you can find it your budget it would be worth it.

The 2015 is not under powered for it's size by any means. What you can do with a tractor has as much to do with the weight of the tractor as the HP. The 2015 is a good proportion size to weight and you must choose attachments that are within your tractors capability. You will always find some task that your tractor is to small for, no matter how big you go. Give me a call at 585-343-0770 and I may be able to help you reach your goal.

Rick, I have a 2015 with FEL and a 60" RFM. I don't feel the tractor is underpowered at all. I think alot of people look at the sub-CUTS with their 23+ hp and think "well, the 2015 is a bigger tractor with less hp, it must be underpowered." But if you do some searching here on TBN, you'll find that alot of folks think the sub-CUTS are overpowered, they don't have enough weight to get that hp to the ground.

The 60" deck seems to be a perfect match for the tractor, it simply never bogs down on me. I keep the blades sharp and the pto at the full 540 RPM and it works great. I mow in high range with no trouble.

I went with the RFM instead of the MMM because I remove the mower after every use. My dealer told me the MMM is something you want to put on in the spring and leave on all mowing season, it's not so easy to put on and take off. I believe the MMM allows you to mow a bit faster since it stays closer to obstacles in the turns. You don't have to back up and grab those patches you miss.

I was more apprehensive about moving snow than I was about mowing, but I've been pleasently surprised there as well. I mounted a 54" Puma snowblower on the back, and the thing rocks. So far the most I've had to move in one snowfall was around 14", and the tractor liked liked the deep stuff better than the not-so-deep. It seems like it needed something to push against to really launch it.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 2015, but no matter what tractor you buy, you'll want to get the FEL. It makes the tractor much more versatile.

You may want to shop around to some more. I got my 2615 Gear with FEL for $13.5K and many other people on this forum have gotten similar pricing.

Though prices may have gone up this year. I bought mine last summer.

RickO . . . let me throw out my disclaimer first. I don't own a Mahindra. In fact we just got our first Mahindra dealer in the county not too long ago and I've only looked at them one time.

SO. . . with the disclaimer out of the way, I will only talk about generalities not about the specific tractor. You are located in Ohio, probably USDA Zone 5 or 6. Your grass is likely Kentucky Blue or some similar thick midwestern species (rye or fescue are likely) but thick lush is typical. IF that is true you probably don't want to consider a 60" mower deck for a roughly 20/21 hp tractor. I can choke a 24hp tractor with a 60" MMM if I let the lawn go to about 7 or 8 inches. I'm not trying to say the folks in NY, FL, TX or WY can't use 60" decks with a 20/21hp tractor, in fact those folks can easily use a 60" deck based on what I see of many of their lawns. But in the greater midwest and into parts of the mid-Atlantic states the grass is very lush and very thick. I would not consider any brand of tractor that had less than 24hp to run a 60" mower in my area. IT IS JUST SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.

Also, you stated your needs are 80% mowing, you might want to seriously consider a lightweight tractor instead of a heavy tractor. It will be much softer on the lawn, less likely to rut (especially if you have clay). Weight is great for folks who farm, but it is no real advantage for mowing or running a tiller. It can help if you are pushing snow, if you are blowing snow then you don't need it. For FEL work, proper balance with ballast is more important than weight, especially if much of the weight is in the engine which is in front of the FEL mount.

If you want a 60" deck, I'd at least look at the next larger tractor. I'd also consider your real needs and look for a great mowing tractor and a good all around tractor since mowing is the vast majority of your uses. In the LONG RUN you will be happier if you find a tractor that does what you need and does it well.

RickO, Hi, I'm a happy 2015 owner. After having 26Hp JD850 2wd, I must say that the 2015 4wd for it's size is not underpowered by any means. Clearing woods, pooling oak tree roots I'm spinning all of the four tires. Overall it's well balanced tractor. It will do what was designed for, that is turn/pull 4Ft implements. Just remember , the engine got to be turned around 2K rpm to reach it's power band range. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
