At a ceremony held at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel in southern Seoul, LS Group, formerly LG Cable Group, vowed to spur its drive to grow into world class industrial electoric, electronic and material business group.
LS Cable Group, 15th largest private-owned conglomerate in South Korea by asset, said it would foster six of its affiliates-LS Cable, LS Industrial Systems, LS-Nikko Copper, Gaon Cable, E1 and Kukdong City Gas-into mainstay companies.
"With core capabilities in industrial electronic, electronic and material business and management philosophy of "Always With Our Customers," LS Cable Group will strive to grow into a global company that provides leading solutions to customers," said John Koo, chairman of the group.
Koo, who stepped down from the chairman"s post of LG Electronics at the end of September 2003, was appointed to LS Cable Group chairman in December same year.
The mid-sized conglomerate plans to unfold aggressive marketing campaigns to promote its new corporate logo both at home and abroad, especially in strategic markets such as China, India and Middle East.
LS Cable Group will also devise a systematic corporate brand management system.
The group has 17 subsidiaries whose total assets amount to 5.1 trillion won. Including state-invested corporations, LS Cable Group is the country"s 22nd largest conglomerates. LS stands for leading solution.
LS Cable Group chalked up operating profits of 500 billion won on combined sales of 8.7 trillion won last tear. its total assets amount to 5.7 trillion won.
LS Cable, the holding company of the conglomerate, produces telecom cables and related components, power and control cables, electronic components, copper wire rod and industrial machinery.
