Kubota GST Grand L3130 w/ 723 loader, Ags
Coming up on 50 hour service and was wondering what all you Kubota owners decided. Did you do the filter and fluid changes or did you pay the price @ your dealer. If you did the service yourself, what did you save and moreover what did you learn?? What would you do next time??

I just change it myself. By the time I load up the tractor, unload it, leave it and pick it up later it takes a lot more time than doing it myself. However, you have to have a way to catch and dispose of the oil. Around here, many places take used oil for no charge. When I lived in MN, any place that changed oil was required to take anyone's used oil. I hear of people spending $300-400 to have it done seems expensive. I still can't stand to be charged for miscellaneous shop supplies. What supplies - paper towels, soap to wash hands?
For me, changing oil is basic tractor maintenance.

I've done all my services myself. And I'm needing to the 700 hour oil & filter change right now.

No idea what I saved - never priced it. I learned that I needed a large socket (26 mm ?) to pull the transmission/hydraulic stainer ..... oh and that 3.93 gallons is alot of SUDT (both to pay for and to catch when it comes out:D )

It is definitley not worth it to have a dealer do it. There is really nothing that you shouldn't be able to do. If you can figure out how to operate the tractor then you can do the service, it's all very basic stuff. When I am under a piece of equipment I always take time to just look at things and get to know them. That way you are better prepared to notice when something is wrong.

I did not even consider the dealer doing it, I just bought the stuff and did it myself.

A BIG CAUTION!!! Several people have had a problem getting filter off, I broke two strap wrenches on mine. SO I would make sure I could at least break the filters loose before draining the fluid. Taht way if you can't get the flilter off you can at least still move the tractor and get help.

I just did my 50 hr service on my B7800. It was not hard. I do not know what the dealer charges, but my total cost was $112. I purchased filters and fluid from dealer. Call the dealer and see what they charge for 50 hour service and decide if it is worth it. Hope this helps.
