You can also use your forks. I know that using forks to dig and is not their intended purpose so care and discretion should be used.
I was able to stump some 18-20inch cherry trees with our NH skid steer and the pallet forks. What I did was to "dig" around the base of the trees and then try an go underneath the root ball then just push over. Keep in mind that I did NOT cut the trees down, but push them over and then cut them up. The smaller trees I was just able to push over, but that depended upon species and some needed help with the forks under the roots.
