I was told that castrol UTF was a good universal trans/hydrlc fluid for my cub 5252 I went to lowes and all they had was a pro select aw-32 hydrolic oil and dont want to mess up a, apparently problematic transmission.
Please advise.

I agree, don't use it unless the manufacturer says okay. I bought the cub cadet hydraulic fluid for my little cub. A little costly, but cheaper than major repairs. You might be able to down load some manuals off here.

Chris, one thing I've noticed about Lowes or Home Depot is they don't carry many maintanence parts for the machines they sell. Go to a Cub Cadet Dealer and buy the proper fluid, or get something that CC states is okay to use in the transmission you have.
Also just because you're at the right dealer doesn't mean you'll get the right advice... I went to a Kubota/New Holland dealer parts dept. to buy some hydraulic trans fluid (SUDT) for my L35. The Kubota/NH parts guy wanted to sell me New Holland transmission fluid..said " this what we use in everything" What! ... this didn't sound right, but not wanting to argue with the counter guy I didn't buy it.. went home and did some more research.. called them back (they're the only Kubota dealer in area) and told a different parts counter person what I'd found durring my research, and was told "Yes, of course, use SUDT only" . :thumbsup: . Drove all the way back and did not ask what to buy, just told the counter person what I wanted and he tried to sell me UDT instead :confused2: ... anyway I bought the SUDT and did the service.
