is a zen-noh really a kubota?

Hi, I've been looking for a small tractor with a fel and I found a zen-noh b1600 the guy said it the same as a Kubota, but he didn't say which one and I'm worried about parts. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Any helpfull advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks,Ty

You been looking on eBay? Actually I asked my Kubota dealer that question since every zen(whatever) tractor on eBay is listed under "Kubota", for sales reasons. Apparently they buy a Kubota engine for their tractors. From what I understand, the Kubota part ends there. It would be like me saying that my Grasshopper mower is a Kubota, since it has a Kubota diesel, or that my Case vibraplow / trencher is a Kubota, since it has a Kubota engine in it. To me, it is simply misleading advertising. If it won't sell on it's own merits, it's not for me. As they say, that is my 2c worth.

Yes that Zen-noh could be a Kubota. Zen-noh is a Japanese farm co-op who pays the manufacturers to label them with their name. Yanmars have been re-labeled as a Zen-noh as well.
Kubota lists a B1600 as a grey market tractor, built, designed for and sold over seas. Not intended for sale in the USA. You probably will be hard pressed to find parts at a US Kubota dealer, but there are other sources for them. Some of the import dealers on TBN may be able to access parts.

That was my understanding. I have seen Mitsubishi as well labeled Zen-noh.

Zen-Noh is a farmers co-op. I have only seen Yanmar and Kubota Zen-Nohs. They don't stop with just the engine. They simply relabel a Yanmar or Kubota. There is another co-op I have seen, Kumai, they relabel Mitsubishis. Zen-Nohs are still grey market tractors. They usually use the same model number as the regular Kubota. Instead of Kubota L1501, they would probably be a ZL1501. Then you would have to determine whether it crossed to an American version.

AFAIK.. the zen noh label is simply a farm coop badge, and the unit is just a kubota b1600.. etc.
