I have an old IH 656 diesel and I need a tire. It currently has 18.4-26 tires.

I’ve located a new set of 18.4-28 wheels and tires complete with adjustable spin out wheels, for $500. They came off a larger Kubota 100HP M series tractor.

My question is the 8 lug pattern pretty universal? I roughly measured the lug pattern and I got about 8” C-C. Same for the center bore at 6”.

I compared this measurement to my Kubota M7060 and it also appeared to be the same….

So if they fit, I think $500 bucks for a pair of brand new AG tires with wheels is a pretty good deal…

the Kubota could be a metric measurement on the bolt pattern though. I don’t know…

When I first read your post I was scratching my head thinking about a 656 with 26 inch rims then I looked at your pictures and it made sense.
Many of the IH tractors used the 8 bolt with 8 inches center to center and a 6 inch pilot hole.
AS far as the size of the Kubota wheel if it measures good at that price it would certainly be worth a shot. I just picked up a new outer rim for my 574and it was $300 just for the outer piece.
Here is a link to an Unverferth catalog with a lot of wheel information.

One problem will be in reusing your wheel weights, I would expect that you will have to drill the centers for the weight mounting holes.
Good luck, that should be a snotty little utility tractor the 656's had good power to weight in the larger row crop frames.

Thanks for the reply.

Today I got the wheels delivered. The center register hole was 6” like was mentioned and the 8 on 8” lug pattern was the same. The only thing was the holes in the Kubota rim were the next size larger, but the taper on the lug nuts still were able to center the wheel.

These Kubota wheels ended up having cast centers. I think not too bad @ $500 for the pair. I’ll get the other one on tomorrow.

Little bit a spray paint IH Red and should be good to go.
