Hi,just used a international 46 baler for the first time and was finding that 1 in 4/5 bales it was leaving the twine tired on the knotter under the bill with the twine cut or snapped, any ideas would be helpfull pleaseThese are some of my ideas.

1 the twine could be old and breaking at the knot?(was left over from last year but could be older)
2 the knotters are dirty?
3 twine tension too tight?
4 twine knifes blunt?
5 not feeding enough hay?
6 knotter hook tension?

Try less tension!

7) None of the above.

If a knot is being left on the billhook , either the jaw didn't open to release it (worn cam or missing jaw wheel), or the wiper arm did not sweep the soon to be completed knot off of the billhook.

Since if does make a few successful knots, I'd check the wiper arm contact pressure first. The wiper balde should press hard on the billhook foot as it travels across. If it doesn't, bend it until does.

You are fortunate that there is one knotter working. Then all you have to do is make the OTHER one look, feel and act like the good one.

There is no wiper arm on an IH 46 that I know of. May be a twine groove worn in bill hook.
