International 454 Diesel

Hi Everyone,
I bought a International 454 diesel that is fairly in decent shape it engine turns with hand and is not seized but the electrical wiring is kind of little messed up to the starter from the ignition switch I was wondering is there a way to start it by directly from the battery to the starter, without worying about the wiring at this point of time because I don't have service manual yet
Any suggestions

It will depend on whether or not the fuel shut off is electrical or mechanical.
If mechanical you can run without electricity.

I don't know much about those models, but I believe they are considered very reliable. Hopefully we can get you some answers.

There should be nothing electrical involved with the fuel system on a 454. All you should need to do is apply 12v to the small S terminal on the starter solenoid. It will most likely have an existing wire on it now. If the battery/cables are up to snuff, it should start and run. Just make sure the trans is in neutral of course.
