Hi guys I’m new here and have a question. I have an old 2444 with the 3 point bouncing with any kind of weight on it. I’ve read things like the piston ring etc could cause this. I’m going to attempt to repair this myself and was looking for some pointers. If I tighten that left hand valve it will hold it up with no bleed off. Where would I start on this project?

I had a 2444 about 20 years ago but don't remember much about it. The "left hand valve"? Does that regulate the lowering speed? If so, and tightening it will not allow the 3-point to drop, I think your problem is in the valve not the cylinder, or possibly the sensing circuit. Shutting the valve holds the oil in the cylinder. If the cylinder was leaking, it would still drop with that valve closed.

I assume that’s what it does it’s that little turn valve down on the lift unit. How could a person test that valve? Or am I just to the point of tearing into it and seeing if I see anything?

The 3-point valves are usually right under the seat. Follow the raise/lower lever down and any linkage to where it enters would be the valve. I would guess there to be a spool valve, springs, possibly check valves. Possibly a pressure relief valve. I would try to find a parts break down. A hydraulic circuit diagram would be helpful also. I think a 2444 is just the industrial version of an ag 444. You might have better luck searching for info on that model. I doubt there will be any test ports or any way to test it. I may be as simple as a piece of trash in the valve or a bad O-ring.

That’s is extremely helpful!!! My question is now, shy of seeing a visual issue with an oring how would I know I’d say that control valve was bad causing bleed back? I guess just proccess of elimination?

I would replace every o-ring I came to. Be aware that hydraulic 0-rings are usually Duro-90 where your standard o-ring kits and such are only 70s. I would try to get them from a hydraulic store or OEM, but that maybe tough to do OEM. Look for scored or pitted parts. Polish or replace as needed. It looks like you will have the piston out so might as well replace the packing there too. Without knowing what to look for, it makes it hard. If I was tearing it apart as far as the video goes, I'd be through.

It appears there is a substantial amount of fluid coming out of the rh lift arm. I will get this thing apart and go all through it. Replace any questionable o ring. Thank you for the help

My 424 leaks like that from the levers that operate the 3 point and draft control, but it doesn't have your bouncing symptoms.

Please show us lots of photos and report on the repair. I'm sure there are others besides me who would be interested. Good luck!
